Every club thinks their fans are special. the media have to hype some team in the premiership up, and they move on to another team who appear to be punching above their weight, and then hype them up. When we weree underdogs who clung to the premiership most years by the skin of our teeth, the papers liked us. then when Lowe did the dirty on Dave Jones we became public enemy no 1 and the papers revelled in our demise. Most journos are lazy so repeat someone elses myth. all teams have reasons why fans dont go to games, not just on field success
I've been to Fratton Park twice (Fratton end) against Arsenal and Everton. Their fans were so grounded and realistic. If we are 0-0 at half time you can hear the boos. It's embarrassing.
For a passionate club and one proud of its history blah blah blah , why on their possibly last ever game only attract 17,000 against Chelsea (3,000 Chelsea) ? Why when they need their famous 12th have they only attracted 15,000 there tonight ?
Listening to the Pompey game and all I can hear is Millwall fans going miiiiiiiiiiii and a bloody annoying bell....very poor support from Pompey.
Not at all , balancing out the pompey love in thats a myth thats all , lets see how passionate they are next year , if they get as many as Southampton did in League 1 then they may get some kudo's until then not a chance , why ? Because the sun and mirror likes the sound of a bell ?
And you feel the burning need to "balance" that out here. A place where there is probably only one Pompey supporter who would claim that the myth is true - that being SB3 who is a WUM - and where the vast majority recognize it as the myth it is. Seems to me your efforts are misplaced.
It's a myth propagated by Southampton fans like yourself! Not us! Ask anyone on this forum (apart from Singing Blue) and you'll see that we don't believe this myth. Because that's all it is, a myth!

Yeah let's keep it going, then all the fans from other clubs who are browsing will be like, "Wow, look at all those Southampton fans who have chipped in a line or two, to say how great they think Pompey's fans really are" And then not bother to read it.
