Yes Piskie - please name names - who said this? You said on a previous thread that it was Robin Van Bergkamp - which was an outright lie.
I thought you wanted to drop it Jayram ? Seeing as I'm asking you for quotes that you cannot provide and I won't be able to dig the Fat Sam one out, which you'll extrapolate as 'lying' I think it's more advisable that we leave it as PNE's description as a general discussion about Fat Sam managing Arsenal.
I found the thread, and PNE is correct - it was a general discussion with no reference at all to replacing Wenger with Allerdyce. PNE made a comment that he doesn't mind Allerdyce's style of play. Thread here: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/119729-Say-Next-Season?highlight=allerdyce Dropping the back and forth arguments is fine, but you really need to stop quoting this one across the boards as it is plainly incorrect.
Why should he drop it? Because he called you out when you deliberately attributed a falsehood to me? For the record, I loathe Fat Sam and the thought of seeing him anywhere in the viscinity of N5 makes me violently ill. As I said before, there are good cops and there are the other ones just as there are good journalists and those who make up stories.
I'd say Arsenal have a firm grasp on 3rd. I still believe in my heart that we will get 4th but that relies on us getting atleast 7/9 points from you, Liverpool and Newcastle, the former two of them being away. I will have a mental breakdown if Spurs finish top 4. I'd rather QPR stayed up and Spurs finished 6th.
The spuds only got to the top 4 because Arsenal & Chelski were playing way, way below par and they were playing a bit better than the likes of Newcastle & Liverpool. We have now gotten ourselves back to something like normal and that has been more than enough to restore the natural order of things. Every point we pulled back from the spuds, the more they crumbled in fear. This has allowed Chelski and Newcastle to benefit as Newcastle also hit a purple patch and Chelski's experience kicks in. They use the 'Arry for England excuse, but that's a load of bollocks. The truth is they have a geriatric goalie who is glued to his line. Bale who can only run 50 yards ahead of his team mates and cross into an empty box, Moderate who is pining to go to the flower show, Adebarndoor the mercenary, VDV & King who are a pair of cripples, Gallas the reject, a bunch of also rans who haven't any regular experience of anything other than finishing in the top half of the PL or watching their oap ladies team win some obscure cup or other. I can only see the spuds battling for 5th or 6th this season and after the mugs come in and buy their so-called superstars in the summer, they will be lucky to end up fighting for 15th or 16th next year. Happy days
I'm not counting my chickens but i think that if we win our next 3 games then 3rd spot will virtually be guarenteed, if we play anywhere near as well against chelsea as we did against man city then we will win by at least 2 goals. Wolves and wigan is just about keeping our composure and taking our chances and then after that we we have 3 teams that aren't really fighting for any significant league position. Harry Redknapp targeted 5 straight wins and to be honest i think we should be disappointed with ourselves if we don't take maximum points between now and the end of the season.
If we win our next 3 games (Wolves, Wigan, Chelsea) we will be 11 Points ahead of Spurs before they kick off for the PL game next Saturday.
At this stage of the season we can't take anything for granted since I'm sure everyone else would have their sights on some form of salvation. One game at a time and aiming for all the three points each match would be helpful. Until we are mathematically safe I'm not resting too.
expecting maximum points is unrealistic tbh seeing as there are teams fighting for their futures (via relegation) and their incentive should be far more than that of the arsenal players whilst other teams are fighting tooth and nail for fourth spot. We are playing well no doubt but you must also keep in mind we are arsenal.......(synonomous with unpredictablility)
We are Arsenal........synonomous with qualifying for the Champion's League every year. Can you get much more predictable than that?
i was referring ofcourse to the way we achieve that ...no need to bring the conecept of trphies into this
