The blame lies squarely with Ecclestone, for abandoning europe, and taking his plaything to all the arab money states. I'd rather have a race in Luxembourg than Bahrain anyway.

Unfortunately where it should go and where it will go are two vastly different things :(

Whose tyres? More seriously, this smacks of the FIA inspection last year by Carlos Gracia, who Max Mosley said, "was taken around by the representatives of the government and had no knowledge of what was really going on, and above all didn't ask to see the people who a human rights lawyer would like to see."

If nobody is willing to take responsibility or make a decision then I suppose we must be resigned to watching them blunder into a situation that could easily escalate out of control and, even if it doesn't, will show F1 in a very bad light. With his mantra of "there's no such thing as bad publicity," Ecclestone is playing with fire.

I think I'm starting to see why Todt has been so quiet... :emoticon-0127-lipss In fact, all I hear is the sound of people washing their hands. I still doubt it will actually go ahead though.

Looking at all the pictures its Ferrari who are being painted as the "bad" face of F1 to the protesters. Not really the image they are after, will Ferrari maybe try and push for the race to be scrapped.

Well, nothing says decadent rich-man's plaything quite like a Ferrari! The teams can't call it off, their hands are tied very expensively. Ecclestone doesn't want to call it off and neither do the organisers but I think it will come down to a question of who flinches first.

Who's your money on? Maybe we should have a poll ;)

Let's hope nothing bad comes of this decision, because the public will find a head to roll if somebody gets kidnapped or killed.

With the concorde agreement coming up if the teams say no to the race and stick to their guns then it may "prove" they are a force to be reckoned with. Doubt it though.

How about a poll on who gets killed first? It would be a nice change from the usual.

So it was definitely Lotus behind the report then. At least that's cleared up.

According to my stepdad who usually gets these things wrong but has access to Sky Sports F1's Facebook feed, Ecclestone has proposed a democratic vote of all the teams.

Anyone confirm? All I get is flashbacks to the driver's briefing in Senna where he convinces Balestre to back down over the tyre wall / cone debate.

We could do with an influential figure like Senna right now, shame nobody has the guts to speak up, lest they be docked money by their employers.

I don't think so. I can't see that snippet on the facebook page. It's just the spin that Sky have put on Ecclestone's comments that I mentioned earlier. Nothing about a democratic vote.

I understand the humour and the "well if thats how you want it FIA don't come crying to me if **** gets thrown" as I also feel like that at the moment. But I would have to say it would be a tad out of taste making a poll on who will be killed first as something like that would spread over the net.

I would find it very creepy if that was the talk of the media telling me I won the poll of most likely to be kidnapped or killed!

Knowing the way the world works, the race gets cancelled, we go to Turkey instead, and Vettel gets killed and eaten by a bear.

They're going to look pretty stupid if the race is cancelled on safety grounds or it goes ahead and something goes wrong after their (now very public) assurances of hunkydoriness.

To be fair to them, any team run by Boullier looks stupid before even putting their collective feet in their collective mouths.
