As it's Lloyd Doyley's testimonial year, i thought i'd be nice to have a thread dedicated just to him. Tonight is the start of the celebrations, the interviews that were recorded last Thursday. Needless to say, i'm in this, but don't blink or you'll miss it . Meanwhile, the best bit is of course, Lloyd himself. What a truly lovely bloke he is. I'm presuming this is exactly what will be shown on Late Kick Off tonight on BBC1 at 11:05pm. So..congratulations to Lloyd Doyley, a true gent, a great person to have around the club and in the team by all accounts, and soon to be a Watford Legend i'm sure. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16689237.stm
So do I - but I might work it so I can make it. I remember as a youngster in the Family Enclosure the club gave a Xmas party for the Junior Hornets and there were 2 or 3 players on each table. You could always tell that all the players cared for the club, but also which ones would be fans if they weren't playing for the club. When my boys were mascots for the Wolves game the season we went up, I could tell that LD was in that category.
In such a cynical, money-driven time for football you just have to love a bloke who so obviously loves both the game and his club.
This guy is a legend already! Every time i see the goal i jump and scream! Its a great diving header even for a forward. I never want him to score again, cos it will take away from that amazing day. I am desperate to get him on my shirt and meet him!!

Bump. I searched for "Lloyd Doyley testimonial" on a very well known search engine, and this thread was on the very first page. My reason for bumping is that I'm sure the possible dates on which the match would be held have been banded around (I think he said it would definitely be one of three dates), but I can't find them anywhere?

I actually asked him the question of when his game will be and he told me it will be the 4th of August. This is likely the Saturday before the season starts.
4th August? Not sure if the IOC would be happy with Lloyd's testimonial getting a higher attendance than Gabon U23 vs Honduras U23 in Coventry on the same day. (I jest, but that precise fixture could very well happen, and Coventry for reasons I can't comprehend is the smallest venue).
It's already been announced that due to the Olympics, the FL season starts on 18th August. If his game is 4th, I won't be able to make it as I fly back from a weekend away the Monday before.
Two Saturdays before actually - the season starts a week later as the Olympics don't finish until 12th August.
i'm sure it's been announced as 11 August. The week before the start of the season. I have it in my diary as 11/8.
If it's the 11th we will be able to go as we are all jetting off on the 14th after the Olympics and we have gone live with a big new upgrade at work on the 13th...
The funny thing is when he was interviewed for talkSport a few weeks ago that it was set for the 4th, then changes his mind to the 7th, then again to the 11th.
thanks guys for all your support, you can all have free autographs. sorry I reposted it, I thought the first one didn't work.
