So Newcastle finish 6th, and Everton take the Europa slot... I DON'T CARE! When the season started our aim was for a top ten finish and we've achieved that...Everything else is a bonus.

Finishing 6th is a BIG bonus even if there's no European football. If this turns out to be a one off season, I still don't care cos I've just loved every minute of this campaign. Enjoy the moment!!!!

We can't really lose now. Pardew was very cute in his interview, and its obvious he has been very shrewd at releasing pressure off their backs by telling the press they've already achieved. His throw away "its great fun" comment probably isn't replicated in private. They'll know what's on now if they win enough games. As Pards noted, its no fluke, we've been in and around it all season, while people waited for our bubble to burst. I heard someone say at the weekend on talksport "I think Newcastle deserve 6th spot". It always rankles with me this kind of comment. You finish where you deserve to finish after 38 games. So whether that is 4th, 5th or 6th, we'll have deserved it.

 

Your saying "so close yet so far". I agree, but I also think that if we'd been told at the start of the season you'll get 6th but no Euro football I'd have been happy. When all the "so called" big names were leaving I was thinking maybe 12th/13th was where we'd be with an outside chance of top ten.

To have worked SO HARD right up until the bitter end, only to come out of it with no reward would be pretty gutting for the players and fans.

I see what your sayin Chappaz but my message is that we've already achieved great things. Euro football would be the icing on the cake but did any of us really expect this at the beginning of the season?

 

What a difference to the days when the spotlight was on Joey Barton for his disruptive antics on and off the field!

Fully deserving to be in the race for Europe, with a new striker up front, there are many glory days ahead!

 

Yeah if we don't get Europe now I think there will be a lot of Newcastle fans taking cold showers at the end of the season.

 

Where next for Newcastle? If they don't secure CL this season there will have to be a decision made over the summer as to whether significant investment should be put down for next season. The team only needs one or two additions, they need to be hardworkers though.

It all depends on what Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea do really. I'd like to see NUFC back in the CL, but not before they are ready!

Honestly, not blowing my own trumpet or anything, but I knew we'd do well this season. Never had any worries about struggling, and was sure we'd make the top half. No word of a lie.
