I would very much like MON to play Craig Gordon for the remaining matches we have left. Mignolet and Westwood may well be competent premier league keepers but Craig Gordon showed before his injury that he is a top class premier keeper who can win matches with his performance. I am still at a loss as to why he was not brought into the team when he was fit, he is our most valuable investment and he has to be given a chance to prove his fitness. He is the best keeper at the club by a distance for me when fit and he deserves better.
agreed mate and MON said he will get games now, so he can see if a new contract is warranted, Celtic are interested in him, he wants to stay here and fight for his place,if he does go it will be on a free.
I don't agree at all..In my opinion Craig has only shown himself to be a top keeper in a very small minority of the games that he has played for us, and I would rate him behind both Mignolet and Westwood.
I am a big Gordon fan but we have no idea about his form and TBH I feel for Westwood who IMO looked nailed on number 1 when he came in.
He just played for the sunderland reserves and they conceded 2 last iheard and one was gordans fault Edit i got the complete wrong end of the stick and he wasnt playing. But everything else i said was correct
Nee bother marra..I respect the fact that you are entitled to your opinion mate; and the fact that it differs from mine will not change that..
I'm with you on this Think he's a good shotstopper but don't rate his overall game and always think our defence looks more nervy when he's playing
I rate him highly as a keeper, but not highly enough to keep as he just doesn't represent good value given the few games he actually plays. The fact that there is even a debate over our first choice keeper shows he isn't head and shoulders above Mig and Westwood. His absence would open up squad postiions
Agree with the original post..Gordon is the best keeper of the three, and, now, should be given the rest of the season to prove that he is back to his best and earn himself another contract. If he stays fit,he is a class act...at least he won't have to face Defoe this season!!
The big aspect of this is wages, i have a feeling he wont be on peanuts probably more than the other two. So unless he drops his wages i think he'll be gone as the other two will do a job nd a good one at that the wages will be better spent else where. But like stated before its all about opinions
So, he wasn't playing , but a goal was his fault?? Did he piss in Westwoods eye or summat? Re his contract, he'll be expected to drop his wages by close to 70% (Keano contract), we'll see his desire to stay then.
Maybe he is not playing because, if he does play Mr Brittle bones will no doubt break something and be side-lined for a year or two again... So with his contract expiring, they may have to put together a compensation deal which will be based on his vast earnings that he is getting now..
SUNDERLAND keeper Craig Gordon is a summer target for Celtic. Gordon, 29, a £9million signing from Hearts in 2007, will be a free agent and Hoops boss Neil Lennon will swoop if he fails with a £2m bid for Newcastleâs Fraser Forster. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4158639/Football-transfer-gossip-news.html
I think he will play. The only reason he hasn't playes is because you cannot justify dropping young Mig. However now is the time to play Gordon. 5 games left, Mig let 4 goals in (all be it 3 of them wasn't his fault). Gordon IMO is one of the best keepers in the premiership, which is why Utd were prepared to pay 15million for him before he knacked his knee. He is awesome. The only problem is his command of the box, but with MON and the trainers I think he could improve. I still believe Gordon will be No1 keeper next season, and Westwood will leave.
i wouldnt play him just for the sake of playing him, ming has been quality and is looking better every game he plays. would be very harsh to be dropped for someone who hasnt played a compettitive game in about 2yr.
