Parents were left confused and angry the word "black" was replaced by "little" in the traditional nursery rhyme Baa Baa Black Sheep during an Easter concert.

Despite the primary school insisting the adaptation was part of a new teaching technique, the move was described as "political correctness gone mad".

Pupils at Park Hill School in Kingston, Southwest London, sung "Baa Baa Little Sheep", causing Conservative councillor and parent Andrea Craig to voice her confusion on Twitter.

"It was about baby sheep. It's a way of teaching phonics so children understand these words they are using."

Do you think this is political correctness "gone mad"?

The spokesperson added the school, which teachers three to seven-year-olds, had "always had adjustments" to the traditional nursery rhyme as the children preferred to sing different variations.

But Craig added she didn't think the school should have used that particular rhyme as it could "so easily be misconstrued as political correctness gone mad".

"They have got to be a bit smarter about it."

The phonics system, which teaches children to learn by phonetics , has attracted a barrage of criticism in recent weeks.

On Monday, delegates at a National Union of Teachers conference attacked the technique, saying it was "unnecessary and innappropriate".

The union argued that the government's policy of promoting phonics will send a message to schools and parents that other aspects of reading are less important.

No, that is fine... Racism against "white people" doesn't exist. The racism thing is just for Black people and Muslim's. It was a right they earned because both believe they have suffered a little bit of oppression in the past... Although ancient Greece and Rome among many other historic lands were built by white slaves. The race card is only at the disposal of the ethnic majority's to wave around in court rooms and social benefits offices. We all must shut up, sit down and be politically correct.

    Rant now over. :)

You shouldn't have had to explain Syd, it was pretty clear to anyone other than a half-wit what you meant.

Right, I'm an idiot. That went right over my head. <laugh>

Where does the PC obsession end?

Well. I live in the West Midlands and we have just over 5'000'000 Englishmen and 2'400'000 imports in the region. Councils are building 2'500'000 new houses to accommodate new incoming immigrants. A project to be finished for 2020. This new scheme will be at the cost of ALL of the farms in the West Midlands. Leading to Britain having to import all of our food as Britain can only self-produce food for just 25% of our current population. This will happen and it is highly unlikely to be changed in time for it to be prevented. Still then I expect the PC obsession to be forced upon our people and for long after then too.

I agree with Mr Wonderful that this whole "PC, racial equality etc" only applies to blacks, muslims and other similar ethnic groups. The fact that white people used to use black people as slaves seems to give them all these extra rights now to try and balance out what happened to them in the past. They'd have you believe that the only slaves in history have had black skin if they could.

Most of the slaves in History where Jews, One case being the pyramids where made by Jewish slaves. History is a perfect example to learn from in politics.

Seen how many whites(if i am allowed to say that) are on the race relations board. Will save you looking, NOT F*CKING ONE. Racism is alive and well against whites. I am not racist however I am very patriotic. This is my country, lived here all of my life, worked & paid my taxes. If these ethnic minorities dont comply with our laws, culture etc tell them to F*CK OFF.

Political Correctness needs kicking up the arse and replacing with common sense. Vote these idiotic councillors out and get normal people in who are not up their own arseholes.

Well said, I myself at least try and do something about turning the table round. I vote and donate money every month towards the British National Party. Who are a fastly growing party with members of all sorts of Creeds, Sikhs, Hindu's, Caribbean's who are also striving for a revert to British culture and a control on the immigration rates and will also make Britain an independent country. The BNP also want to place the "3 Treason Laws" which Tony Blair (with the Queens signature) had repealed in 1998, back where it belongs... in British law.
