The interview involves demanding an extortionate amount of money from a club, taking over a talented group of players, and getting slightly less out of the group than most people would have expected. Worked for Sven, Capello and Harry.
keeping possesion effectively is about players passing and moving, and making the pitch big by spreading out, for some reason teams in the championship you can throw a blanket over them as they are packed so closely together.... 6 draws and 2 wins in 10 is the same as 4 wins in 10, which is not good enough to be challenging for top 6 IMO, but both teams are in with a shout...
Good point. We have shown worrying tendencies to not offer up an option for the player on the ball. He'll often be a good 20 yards from the nearest yellow shirt. Still I think getting an organised team which is hard to beat was always going to take priority this season over the "beautiful game".
I've seen it and it's one of those where Conway got to the ball first and with the wet pitch JH couldn't really stop but it does look bad - if it had been Conway on Hogg, we would've wanted him sent off.
Yup, fully agree. Our priority was stability and avoiding relegation...if SD can get some more quality into the team, it will come.
When Dyche dropped Eustace and brought in Bauben, we went on a run where we only lost 2 out of 13 games. As for McGinn, I really cant see Dyche playing him in central midfield. Dyche likes his players in that position to carry out their defensive duties and to be robust/get stuck in. McGinn is not that type of player at all. I would love us to sign Colchester's Anthony Wordsworth. He is a tall central midfielder who posses good passing ability and has scored as many as 12 goals this season. If we signed him you would have: Wordsworth or Bauben for the more forward thinking CM role Eustace or Hogg for the more defensive CM role. (Jenkins if Eustace goes in the summer)
A BIT!!!! Against Blackpool every time he had the ball it was either a chip or a hoof. I dont think there was one moment in that game where he got his head up and played a short pass with the side of his foot.

Not very well though Mitch - the bobbles and the ball suddenly changing direction are awful. Even The Spuds had trouble with it!
But most of the teams were still able to pass it around better than ourselves though. We do need a new pitch, I just hope we change our style of play if we do get it otherwise it'd be a waste. There was a moment in the Blackpool game where one of our players had the ball with nobody closing him down (might have been Murray?) and not one yellow shirt moved into space for him or even looked like they wanted the ball, so our player with the ball just booted it and I think it went out for a goal kick.
I dont know whether to take it seriously or just break down laughing!! The guy is clearly bitter about the result and yet another 2 points dropped at home. I would say he is a neanderthal but even they had half a brain.
I thought it was piss funny , I mean you gotta be fair ,we dont play pretty football ,coz we aint got the staff for pretty football, but we are effective with what we have Least he didnt do the usual and confuse us for Sarries
I remember it being worse last season TBF. That home game in the cup when we lost to Brighton 1-0. I dont think our pitch has been as bad as that this season???
Let's put it this way: unlike the previous couple of campaigns, this year we have done everything possible to care for the pitch, and we are still debating whether it is better or worse than last season. That shows just how badly it would have detereorated without the additional care, and just how necessary getting a new one is.
Being Carduff's favourite tipple, I'd say he had considerably more than just a half of Brains - more like ten pints to have seen what he claims to have seen. A Welsh WUM with his own blog - nothing more, nothing less.
Mitch, I really do not think that a diamond formation is going to work for us. If you play Buaben and Hogg, then that is what it will be. Hogg does not go forward, and Buaben is mostly invisible in the game. If anything, it's a diamond formation, which is usually inept, with the added weaknesses of both Hogg and Buaben making it even worse. If you wanted to utilise it best, then McGinn would work. He is a box to box midfielder....and I think it's unfair to say that he can't defend. I think he does get stuck in quite well, and has a higher workrate than Buaben. But...either way I think a 3 man midfield would be better. Boss the midfield, give McGinn/Eustace some attacking license and have good width with two wingers.
