If you eventually finished in the 4th position you earned it..Congratulations.Champion league is not automatic right for any premiership club.
Split feelings: liked the way you guys have played this year despite being written off by everybody at the start of the season. Be nice to show that nothing's a cert. Cynically split again: would rather you ended up in the Europa with us because if you keep the players you've got you may well be competing with us for the same places next year. Just out of interest: Do you think even if you keep these players your squad could cope with Europe & maintaining this years league form?
I'd be interested to also hear about player wages and if you think they guys wnating out are really just chasing wages and whether you will pay the 100k per week again if you get 4th.
Ashley seems to have had a 5 year plan for Europe, but we've almost reached our goal a year earlier than expected, so I think Ashley would take the opportunity this summer to fill out the squad and create some depth to deal with the various tournaments. Guthrie Abeid Vuckic Perch Gosling Ryan Taylor Marveaux Ferguson Are all good squad players who we could use already, hopefully with the inclusion of a few more signings. I think reaching 4th or 5th place shows that you have the ability, skill and depth to do very well, so teams entering the tournaments through these positions tend to be able to cope. It's when teams enter through other routes where the problems lie. Teams like Fulham and Stoke got into the tournaments despite only being able to achieve mid-table results, so it's no coincidence to me that their league form has wobbled.
What's happened with Marveaux Chappaz? I remember Liverpool were linked with him but there were issues with a medical/agreeing terms. Newcastle came in and signed him but I haven't seen him play very often.
We'll probably have a similar structure to Spurs. Good wages but no £100k+ deals. He had a groin injury and ended up having an operation to get the problem solved once and for all, so he's been recovering ever since. We might see him appear again in the last few games of this season, or it'll be next season I suspect.
if harry leaves and Bilic becomes our Manager then i think Modric would stay. But we don't have to worry because we will still finish in the top 4,sorry to upset you lot who don't want to see that.-not
