Harding, Butters, Seaborne, Bart, Holmes, Jaidi. All not good enough. Connolly to injury prone and old. Will be sad to see him go. Puncheon I don't think Adkins likes so will be gone aswell. Guly I think will leave too. Still have my doubts on Fonte, sometimes he is far to casual.
Davis, Richardson, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Lee, Schneiderlin, Cork, Lallana, Lambert and Sharp, I have plenty of confidence in. Martin, Hammond and Chaplow I also think can put in a shift when required. That doesn't give us much room for manoever. Take a few of the kids to Switzerland and see where it goes, but I think some serious business needs to happen to boost quality in numbers. Norwich have made some very Shrewd signings like Bennett, Howson and Pilkington to name a few. Good, young, league players who are driven to make a mark on the next level. We want similarly gifted or better footballers to what we already have, and crucially they need a good attitude. Last thing we want is some billy big bollocks with a massive sense of entitlement causing unrest i the dressing room.
Can't believe someone said Davis isn't good enough. He deserves a start in the PL, though we will need another goalie. I haven't been to many games, but read comments from those that have. Reports on Davis are usually of the 'couple of great saves' type or 'didn't have much to do.' I can scarcely remember any that said 'Davis was totally at fault for that goal.' I think we should get in another goalie (and we'll have room on the bench for him), but his job is to displace Davis and not the other way round.
Davis was no good in the Prem in the first place That's why he dropped to League One! Good luck to you, but you'll need to buy big. You've pretty much been a one man team so far but you'll not get away with that in the Prem.
Adkins gets the best out of most players, though sometimes the best turns out not to be good enough. Our team has moved away from some of our fringe players, sad though that is for them. However, players should be judged by what they are now, not what they were. Davis instills confidence in the defence and has a certain future at Saints as a coach when he hangs up his gloves.
Ridiculous statement. Have you not seen Lallana, Schneiderlin, Cork, Sharp, Hooiveld? Swansea's squad last year did not have players of that quality, and look at them now. Oh and Davis is easily good enough.
We are nothing like the Saints of the past (apart from the wonderful fans). Whilst I have been watching (which I know missed some golden years), we have always been a mixture of a few good players and some spirited but limited players. I used to watch us struggle against teams who were considered to be inferior to us but played like teams. We are now a team that plays like a team. Players brought in will be those that fit into our present team and our style of play. Obviously, there will be players brought in, but I'm not expecting wholesale change.
We shall see. Maybe Lala but that's about it. They have over achieved big time this season, mainly down to a 30 goal striker.
Yet we have scored 76 goals, Lambert scoring 26. So 50 goals from the rest, how many has Pompey scored?
Pompey have scored 43 so taking Lambert out we have still scored more. Plus we have the 3rd best defence(I think)
I'm going to be really pedantic about this because frankly I think it's funny. When you say "if we didn't have Lambert", that can imply two very different hypothetical situations: The first is a hypothetical universe where Lambert plays for a different club; The second is a hypothetical universe where Lambert doesn't exist. In this first universe, the solution is very simple - if we didn't have Lambert, we would sign Lambert. In the second universe, Adkins would presumably sign someone who he considers to be the type of player we are missing - i.e. a player who can score 30 goals in a season. In neither scenario would our team have played an entire season with the same players, minus Lambert. We would have signed a new striker (either Lambert or someone else), and probably would have gone on to have a very similar season to the one we are having.
Fair enough - I just assumed you might be a philosophy student with talk about hypothetical universes.
Ah but I didn't bring up the hypothetical universes. Those speculating on how we would do without Lambert did. My comment was based on their logic.
am bemused as to why guly is so underated by the so called fans ,to my mind he is one of the few technically equiped players we have suitable for the premiership just dont get the boo boys in a team thats top of the league against all expectations this season and a player that scored his fair share of goals and top of the assists ,am staggered with comments on here
I am imagining a Universe without Lambert and am now going for a lie down. Tell me such places do not exist.
