from pretty much every Newcastle United supporter in the land. (You beat Everton = we get into Europe) Also, on a personal note - I hope you then go on to win the FA cup. That'll mean Dalglish will likely not be sacked. It has been fun watching his cunning acumen in the transfer market, and immense tactical knowledge on matchday, not to mention his incredible man-management skills.
which of your players do you want him to buy then? I mean we can take your best and worst players again if you like? After all funding a CL run is going to be hard up there in the land time and the EU forgot isn't it? Hows about 70mil for ameobi and 2 mil for tiote? i think you lot oughtt o go win 4th place and nver mind being small minded about a europa place.
Stuff Europa, you have as good a chance as anybody to get in to CL. Keep your players fit and keep plucking away and you'll be right in there.
although worth noting that Ameobi has been good for us this season - two important equalising goals against the mackems and the spuds. he totally knackered himself playing through injuries for years when the likes of Owen was warming the bench, loyal player and local lad, so even if he never hit the heady heights, he'll always be loved on the Toon. Plus never forgetting that goal at the Nou Camp... You can have Alan Smith and Nile Ranger if you like. £60m for the pair bargain! then no doubt sign Tim Krul for £250k or something...
Why the relentless digs at Dalglish/Liverpool from Newcastle fans? Personally, I would LOVE you guys to get CL football ahead of Chelsea (although I have nothing against Spurs getting 4th ahead of them either) and looking forward to seeing the fight out in the last few games. I like Liverpool, I like underdogs and I dislike money clubs. That's about as far as my football allegiances (no clue if I spelt that right, don't care enough to check) go. Even to the extent where I wouldn't be too arsed if United win the league, simply because it proves City win **** all with their buckets of cash and they deserve to have their arrogance put down a level. I would love Chelsea to miss out on the CL for similar reasons. GL for the rest of the season, but stop being a prick when some people might actually be wishing you guys well.
the digs at Dalglish from Newcastle fans are pretty well earnt I'd say. He single handedly destroyed Keegan's team, remember? (actually, to be fair, he just began the slaughter...it was Ruud who dealt the final deathblow) aside from that - all just friendly banter. You got Enrique for a song, it's true...but the Carroll transfer has turned into a golden seam of comedy, a veritable motherload of muppetry in the mine of fail.
And I didn't appreciate Hodgeson's time at our club, but that doesn't mean I look for WB to lose or for him to have an awful run of games so I can bask in his or their failure. We should all be against the common enemy here, City and Chelsea Couldn't care less about Carroll btw, Chelsea bought him for us. Besides we win about 50% more games when he plays than when he doesn't so despite his commical performances, he's doing something right!
I think personally any lfc fan who says chelsea bought carroll is missing the fact that then chelsea bought newcastles bid for a 4th place... andy carroll is a great bit of entertainment for everyone up and down the country. i think people need to rememebr that footabll is about entertainment in the end and if nothing else andy is comical. finally... sorry but we can only but pleayers that would annoy you. so the 60mil will have to be for someone who you love but is useless. nobdoy loves ranger or smith surely? 250k for krul sounds high.. are you sure you won't take 100k if we get him to say he wants to leave and you are going nowehre... rememebr the minute he does this you are sure to actually win the league.
to be fair, after Enrique, Nolan, Carroll, and Barton were sold - I thought we were ****ed but having seen the likes of Santon, Cabaye, Ba, and Cisse come in - I'll trust our transfer policy, and won't jump to conclusions too quickly if a big name goes out the door this summer (and I expect one or two will)
bette roff without coloccini guys... he's legs will go before too many more years go by so if you can and repeat the trick well and good. i'll hold judgemnt on cisse til he plays next year, will defenders figure him out easily or not, he's scoring goals but is he contributing like ba round the pitch? what will happen if he has a few games without a goal... stuff like that. anwya... go for 4th, then don't lose your collective heads buying ver priced players... from manchester or something. its a sure way to get the sack.
We've got a guy who could help you out if you lose a few in the summer. Big tall bloke, geordie, loves the club....
Sadly i don't think we could have Carroll back. It would be like Torres going back to Liverpool, too much bad-will. Don't write him off yet, he may get a hat-trick against Blackburn tonight!
the only thing i REALLY don't get is how newcaslte fans think that carroll jumped ship or forced his way out when it seems to be the case that the lad never wanted to leave but was told in no uncertain terms that he was cgone for 35mil or his career was over. I don't really get it cos ok i can see why torres was bad blood after what he said and did but what did carroll do bar hand in the forced transfer request that cost him his loyalty bonus to make the deal ahppen (again was forced into it) whats the version of events back on the tyne on this?
MITO no-one really knows bar the people involved at the time. Contradicting stories came out and in the end it seemed most likely (in my opinion) that it suited all parties for him to move. He wanted more money than we were willing to pay him and the idea that he and the club took the money and ran seems most likely. Some versions of the story have Carroll demanding £70k, £80k, £90k per week to stay and him going off in a strop about it; alternate versions have him being cojaloed into signing a transfer request and then taken against his will to Liverpool. Personally i don't hate the guy and was disappointed that he was booed the other week. I just think there's bad blood and we can't as fans now support him. Nothing would suprise me about Ashley and Llambias as they are ruthless bastards but i don't buy the idea of "poor little Carroll being forced to hand in a transfer request against his will". Don't get me started on Enrique or Bellamy though as the two of them certainly did deserve to be booed by us!
Haslam; you all should really cheer him; he could of spent the next 3 seasons scoring 20+ and still wouldn't have benefitted your team as much as his departure this year did. Ach,he like most footballers is a young lad. I'm not sure if I'd been hero worshipped into thinking I was the mutts nutts & had an agent telling me I was worth it I wouldn't have demanded stuff too. Except as we have seen if he did make such demands he's getting a lesson in humility this year!
Yeah i hope he comes good, I still think that even the Newcastle fans who booed him last week would be boasting "he's one of us" if he started playing excellently for Liverpool and England.
Think he will come good eventually it was only the last 11 months at Newcastle that he started doing the business.
seems to me he tweeted his feelings rather foolishly on the night. thats where i'm coming from. from your side i can see why you would see him going for big wages i suppose. I don't recall him saying stuff like say enrique did about winning things but then torres wound everyone up even more by dropping the big club bomb so karma bit him.... overall i'm not sure about carroll but i get the impression the londoners forced him to go as much as he jumped at wages.
Newcastle fans are very bitter. I think this bitterness stems from not winning ANY trophies in the last 57 years. They will be back to their bottom half of the table existence when the good players they have now leave for big clubs that actually win trophies.
