    You must be confused.

I said you were in the same league of 'European greats' as Nottingham Forest, Benfica and Ajax- in that the present isn't quite as glamorous as the past.

In terms of major European clubs now - Liverpool aren't quite there. The last two seasons have demonstrated this.

For a player looking to come over Spurs are a more attractive prospect; on the up, in London, possible Champions League football.

PMK, have some respect. They won the "most exciting football team that won **** all" in the late 90s.

So how far into the past should we go to prove whether or not in your opinion we are a 'European great',as far back as 2001 and Bayern's last CL win or maybe a bit further to suit your point?

Your inferiority complex is clearly visible here lad.

We added to our 'history' only a few weeks ago and could possibly add more in may,you mock our 'former glories' but your Super Mac's and Shearer's and Beardsley's etc had to achieve what ever glory they had at clubs other than NUFC.

Its funny that your cumming in your kecks because your club are 5th and still no trophy in sight.

Where did Bayern Munich come from? They still play in the Champions League.

It's more a fact than a complex. The difficulty can be accepting it.

Playing in the CL doesn't make a club 'European Greats' except in your world.

In the real world winning the continent of Europe's premier club trophy does.

I suppose Juventus aren't a major European club anymore then. Years of proud history in Italy & abroad erased because of two years of no CL football..

In terms of them competing for the Champions League, then yes -add them in too. Since they last won anything in Europe the club has been relegated. I'm not erasing history, I'm grouping the clubs on the basis of it.

It means that winning the competition not just entering the competition make a club 'European greats'

I like Newcastle and I'm really surprised and pleased that you're doing so well, but really- so called "fans" like you do make it difficult.
Puerile nonsense such as this is an insult to your club and its decent supporters.

    But winning the continent?

Clearly they are not in the grouping, however all are in a better position that you now. If all four went in for a player I'm not sure Liverpool would come out with the signature.

    Europe is a continent.

'A better position',yes because you've got to be in it to win it which one of the three wont be(probably Spurs).

But as Real and Barca are major forces in the CL these days the chances of any English side winning it are minimal.

But in the summer it won't be 'possible', will it? It either will be or it won't be. If they finish fifth, we've a better chance than they have. We can offer higher wages, and, as desperate as you are to prove otherwise, we're a bigger name in Europe than Spurs are.
If you think all players make their decision purely on where the team finished in the table the season before, you're kidding yourself.

If you are out of the Champions League & not looking credible challengers for the Domestic Title, the only way you will attract the elite Players is by throwing money at them.

LFC don't appear to have the wealth or the intention of spending 'silly' money, so patience is required.

I was ridiculed for saying it at the beginning of the season, but here goes:

You'll need to sign 3 Players to make a 1st XI, AND another XI better than them, if you are to seriously challenge for the Premier League Title.

Three years would be a realistic time frame to achieve this.

And I would start with Drogba.

I do like how this has developed. If you actually look back over what I've written I think you will find it to be different to what you suggest.
