We were 6th from bottom, 5 points away from relegation with only 5 games to play.

This season with 5 games to play, we are 14 points clear of relegation and sitting comfortably. That's what I call progress.

It is when you consider Mon picked up Bruces mess. If Bruce had gone even a few games earlier I dare say wed be sitting 7th which would be remarkable.

We are in a much better position going into this pre season than last year. Because Bruce was a dunce we hardly had a squad when all the loanees returned to their clubs. Hence why 13 or 14 players have had to be brought in. Now we have the nucleus of a good squad that just needs a quality striker and one or two tweaks.

It's the end of the season that counts lads not this time then and what if this. We finished 10th last season as I'm sure we are all aware (thanks Steve) and, it looks like we'll finish about the same place this season.

I think we will finish 8th or 9th which is great considering where we were before.
I still think drastic changes need to be made in the team. Unfortunately I can see another busy summer (thanks Mr Bruce).

We need to improve every area apart from GK. Then we need to strengthen the back up players, so that means getting rid of the present back up players.

At the moment we play well for 2 or 3 games and then don't turn up for one - previously we were average for everything. For me that is a small step forward. Our squad is clearly paper thin and with a good summer of strategic signings we should be able to stamp out the inconsistency and play well more of the time

See I don't agree. I think MON has made a big difference, however those players were 17th/18th in December, and got thumped 4-0 last night.

Our back up players arn't even good enough for Championship football. Our midfield is woeful, like really bad. The only player who should be safe is McClean. The others just arn't good enough for a 1st team spot.

BTW this is not just brought up because of last night, its just my views all season. I can't wait till MON gets his own players in.

I dont think we need wholesale changes either. I think we have the makings of a really good squad and a few key signings and we would have an excellant first team squad. I think we need a bit more quality on the bench to call on when things arent going right

So when we were sitting 8th at the end of march and seriously looking at 7th, you really thought "this team isn't good Enough" I find that amazing. You think mcClean is the only one worth keeping absolutley amazing. Does the fact that MON has taken 31 points with the same players since December, not shown to everyone that Pre-MON the players were not playing as a team to there potential. That with a little coaching , organisation and confidence they could and would becomE a much better team . Mon has had 5month now to assess what he has, and I don't think that he thinks he needs wholesale changes. This summer will be about quality not quantity. Expect 2-3 players to go straight into the first 11 then maybe a couple more for the squad, really don't see more than4/5 players coming in.
