I think we all spent a fair bit of the season expecting to have a slide and when we did no one took advantage. It was a few months into the season before I stopped being amazed we won again. Although few thought we would go up at the beginning of the season, failure would be a massive disappointment now. You don't get seasons like ours very often...have to strike whilst the irons hot. Enjoy the rest of your season...just not too much.
But if Reading and Saints are on equal points then the race for 2nd involves all three teams. West Ham are most definitely not out of the race for 2nd.
Don't you think your guys would be too demoralised to win the playoffs? I never fancy the team in 3rd.
Not too sure I believe that you have to have momentum to win the playoffs. I think they are one off unique games and I am confident that Allardyce and nolan will make sure the team have enough motivation. Thats not saying I expect us to be competing in them of course!
Oh sorry, i misread your original post i didnt realise it said title hopes. I thought you were coming on here saying your promotion hopes were over! Which they are most definitely not! You can easily still get 2nd, its not over yet.
Anyway I'm off to watch this Fulham Chelsea game. Will come back during the week. See you Later Saints. COYI
Fair play to you Trixter,i was going to update your "that my friends is how to win away post" like i have done a couple of other times, but being as you have come on here i wont bother. Enjoyed the banter, and while we aint there yet,i would be very disappointed if we dont go up now
I take on Nigel's attitude, put each game to bed regardless of the result and then concentrate on the next game.. still twelve points in it, anything can happen. I loved Nigel's comments about not needing to give our players a pre-match pep talk as the players were already high from the Saints fans they saw on the way to the ground, chanting and singing.. Our twelth man is going to give us the needed 6 points to go up, end we will still have two games to win the league...no problem
Brighton will be a very very tough game for Reading , I stated on another forum on Saturday there wil be plenty of twists and turns right up until the end .
Trixter, if we beat Reading for you on Friday, all may not be over for WHU as far as autos are concerned. However, it's noble of you to pop across here and acknowledge Saints hand on the trophy. When we've got both hands on it, then we'll have really deserved it.
Even if Reading do beat Brighton they are going to have wracked up a few injuries coming into the Saints game
If you do get to the final - I never usually fancy the team in 3rd to do so - at least it won't be played at home Seriously, you've got the quality over two legs but I think Brum and Blackpool are both better bets for getting too the final. The Hammers have been too inconsistant to be certain of a final place for me. But if they do get to Wemberrrrly, they'll win it IMO.
Still all to play for. I will not fully believe we have won the title or promotion until the result Friday. If Reading fail to win today then i will be close to believing. Don't forget we still have two tough away games to play. My predictions for last four games are: Reading Draw P'boro Draw M'boro Lose Coventry Win. That is me not being over-confident. So if we do end up with those results it will go to the last game of the season and we will all be a bag of nerves. Total of 87 points... should be enough for promotion at least. COYR
I feel we can beat P'boro. I think West Ham will drop some more points and we will go into the P'boro game on the verge of promotion. Interesting that trixter was confident about the play-offs...I believe Saints are the best team in the league but would still not be totally convinced we'd win the play-offs. A true lottery.
