This issue has been raised again recently, I listened to a recent podcast on Talksport and the agruement for it was convinicing.

Its suggestred to have a dedicated area behind the goal, with better built stadiums and crowd/security control its belived we will not have the same problems or disasters that happened in the past.

One point raised was the cost of converting it back, but this would be offset by a slight increase in numbers in that area. I'm sure the 'big clubs' will see this as an oppoutunity to increase capacity. Not so sure the ticket price would be reduced as you are no longer sitting.

What I find interesting is there is now a whole generation of football fans who have never stood at a game (my son who is 10 would find it weird).

    Any Thoughts ???

As much as I loved the terraces at Fratton when I was growing up, I feel now that it should stay in the past.
As you have already said, a whole Generation only know the seating side of football.
Reverting back to cramming bodies into the areas behind the goals or any other areas for that matter would I feel potentially generate trouble.
Also an awfull lot of fans frequent the boozers prior to the game and some tend to have a skin full and then the horns come out of the tops of their heads.

I would love to see the clubs being allowed to have sections for those that want to stand. It needn't be at the loss of seats because we all stand anyway at games unless told to sit or be removed. I see no reason why we couldn't have the choice even if it still meant seats had to be provided. They don't stop me standing so I fail to understand why there should be a major problem.

Just read an article from Kenny Dalglish on this - saying he was manager of Liverpool when the Hillsborough tragedy happened. He makes a very good case for not bringing back standing.

I like my own space so no standing for me.

Still see no reason why a person who wants to stand can't.

When tickets are bought we could have the option of taking a seat where standing is allowed.

Not even if it only meant that you wouldn't get pilloried for standing when watching instead of sitting?
