Latest Scores: Gil 1-1 D&R Oxf 1-1 Tor Cre 3-0 BrR Anything less than three points isn't going to be good enough!
Bloody Oxford are winning now. If we don't win, we can forget the play-offs for another season. We'd be five points adrift with four games left (if all the current scores remained the same).
what a load of **** i feel sorry for the season ticket holders who pay good money to watch that dross, so much for "the best team ever" d&r must love playing us,,,,,,we have probably kept them in the league,,,, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Oh dear........the mediocrity of our home record (losing 6) has caught up with us. Ho hum......yep another season in league two. Remember....this is a much stronger league than the one we got out of last time. No excuses...we weren't good enough in the end....or we were good enough but consistency let us down. We need to build for the future now......but that doesn't mean baying for Hessy's head. We've had some indifferent players (still got some) and need to move these on and press on for next season. We have the potential for a very good forward line as can be seen by the number of goals scored. The defence has, at times, been a shambles with our player of the season elect playing out of position at left back. That in itself says a lot. If we could hold on to the forward line and the best of the midfield and rebuild the back line I see no reason why we could not streak away with the league next season. We, as a team, were nearly there and to succeed next season have got to hold on to our best players....or we will be in this position again, and again and again. No.....I'm not too downbeat, after all we lost our entire forward line at the start of the season and our Cody mark 2 never got out of the starting blocks. So....although no grounds for self congratulation, I look forward to next season.....and maybe we can do the business on D&R as those 6 lost points really cost us....very dearly.
Games like this are why I choose not to get a season ticket, I will always be a fan of Gillingham football club, however I could not go week in week out as I would go mad at watching this ****, we can be great but we can also be awful, we don't seem to have that middle level anymore.
I think most of the side is good, but they just are not consistent, there is a lot of quality which does not make sense with how we play sometimes. I think we should stick by Hessenthaler because I think he needs one more season, however some of the players he brought in need to go, they are Fish, Frampton, Montrose and also Kuffour as he is too lazy and is probably one of the highest earners so he might aswell go. Also the likes of Weston should go with Oli and Lawrence.
One question......how many first choice players have been available lately? Lee,Tomlin, King, Fuller, Spiller (just come back) plus those loan signings that came and went Nouble, Obita .......thats 7 names who would have been first choice in the team not counting Birchall and Richards (who was having a good season). Thats 82% of your first choice team unavailable at a critical time of the season......plus the other appearance gaps during the season. We've basically been fielding a second X1 for quite some time, and to get where we have is not bad. Not what we wanted or would have liked. Would have been nice to have kept Barcham, Mc Donald, Bayo and Jackson too but we couldn't as we are not a wealthy team by any stretch of the imagination. Days where we could pick up gems for half a million (Super Bob, Asaba) have long gone. A million buys you mediocrity....... I am trying to be the voice of reason.....to replace Hess would just remove any stability that we could hope to establish over the close season. He has brought in some good players and there is no quick fix......however much lukey et al would like.
I think it is such a shame as we have a team with more quality than the likes of Cheltenham and Oxford and also look at Crewe they were down in the bottom half a few months ago and their young players have taken them all the way.
That's why I feel that what we have got can provide a really good core, and bring the youngsters along. Bear in mind that Crewe have a couple of youngsters who have represented their country, so that would make them a little special already.
Hoadie - we at the mad house agree with you - this VVVVV could be you ( you don't have to watch all of it )
Got to remember that for only one of those seasons has it been an entirely 'hessenthaler' team. Would comment on the game, but I'm still too pissed off at how ****e we were, so i'll leave that 'til later...
