Now im no fan of Walter Smith and i think he is moaning just for the sake of moaning at the minute

But he has a point on this issue - not that its pure unfair against rangers - but that the split is just bollocks!

How can you have some teams playing 18 home games and 20 away? Or some 20 home and 18 away - while others have 19 apiece.

Its just a ****ing joke! oh That and the fact that the teams in 7th and 8th can send up with more points than the team in 5th and 6th!

They really need to do something about the SPL though. IN no other league can you leave it open to this kind of paranoid debate

Playing each other 4 times also devalues the meaning of a rivalry too IMO

So smith is right to question this - simply if it helps get rid of this stupid system?

So whats the best way to get rid?

16 teams and a 30 game season? This would allow a winter break to help fix the pitches

18 teams and 34 game season?

Campbell Ogilvie came up with a good alternative...

Will try to find a link to his idea.

Most of the SPL Chairmen (despite what their managers want )want the status quo to remain so they get the OF cash cow at their grounds 3 or 4 times a year.

Aye but surely the revenue for this is falling?

    And the TV money also

They must surely see sence in making a better bigger league will mean potentially more TV money, potentially more sponsorship etc and full houses 2 times a year when Celtic and Rangers roll into town rather than 4 half full houses?

Having given the question great consideration, I think the alternative is not to have a split.
