In Victorian Times, a fur coat or stole was commonly known as the Weasel from the fur they were made of. At the time the cost of food (like today) was rising rapidly "Half a pound of Tupenny rice, half a pound of Treacle. That's the way the money goes.", To be able to pay for their food they had to take their valuables etc. including their Weasels to a pawnbrokers and put them in hock, this was also known as poping, to raise some cash. Hence Pop goes the weasle. (shut up Charlie)
Morning All, been busy all weekend and have been unable to get on the laptop. Shame about the result on Saturday, SD seemed to get cross with the team for the first time that I can recall. Still perhaps the will reverse the result today against Carduff, mind you I don't mind if it's Cardiff 1-2 Watford as it will help my predictions. Wet and miserable day here today, off out soon to take our daughter back to Heathrow for her flight back to Switzerland. It's been lovely having her here but 5 days is plenty for our little princess who has enjoyed her 5* all inclusive, lie back and be waited on holiday. Come tomorrow though we will be missing her dearly. Hope the rain doesn't put too much of a wet Squib on your Matzah Ramble today H. As for PSH with his Loo Loo skip to my Loo voices;- I get those most mornings at about 4.00am and if I didn't obey them I would end up wetting the bed. Safe journey to all those heading up the M4 today, here's to a great result. Come on you 'orns!!!
Morning All, Just got to pack the car now and set off up the A20. The meteo says it is raining in Dieppe which is the first place to get to. Plenty of warm clothing packed after youngest told me last night that she was sitting in front of a fire, whereas yesterday afternoon we were in the garden soaking up the sun. Doubt that I will be around this afternoon, but keeping fingers crossed that we can do one over Carduff. Have a good day wherever the breeze might take you.

Wow - you can see a London street all the way from Iceland!! Lovely weather up here - blue skies & a balmy 12C. Pity about my bad back - I could be outside doing some much needed gardening or painting instead of being stuck indoors waiting for the football to start.
Morning all. Its overcast and chilly here. I will be working on my assignments before the match, but then will bolt the door so as not to be disturbed.
Very wet here this morning...grey heron in the field opposite seems to be enjoying it. I'd expect a few changes today and a determination to put Saturday behind us.
This wouldnt be a tactical back muscle strain would it over a bank holiday with a heap of sport to follow ?
Afternoon all - a bit nippy in bandit country and Mrs W_Y has demanded the heating to be turned on and up... COYH, let's give the sheep botherers a nasty surprise this afternoon...
well, yay! . The matzah ramble was wet, but was lovely ...cut a little shorter than it would usually have been, but a nice wander through the woods at Wendover
