The game is scheduled to be played at Ewood Park on Tuesday the 10th of April 2012 at 8PM. The game is to be shown on Sky Sports 1 (Build-up to begin at 7.30PM) & BBC Radio Five Live has the radio rights to the game. (Build-up begins at 7PM) Preview Blackburn and Liverpool meet in what will be a crucial game for both sides. Blackburn, under Steve Kean, are battling relegation and need to pick up points if they are to avoid relegation to the Championship. Liverpool, under Kenny Dalglish, need to start picking up points and wins to stop the rot and start climbing up the table and end the season well. Blackburn Rovers. The home side, Blackburn Rovers, have had a difficult season. Iâm sure weâll all agree that if a team is to stay up, they need goalscorers. Blackburn have goalscorers in Yakuba & Junior Hoilett. Yakuba has 15 goals this season and Hoilett has 6 so far this season. Yakuba has been the stand out player so far for Steve Keanâs side and his goals have kept them in contact with the sides around them and he will need to keep scoring if Blackburn are to stay up this season. Junior Hoilett will also be a big threat to the Liverpool defence. With 6 goals and 6 assists to his name this season, he has been crucial to Blackburn this season and those figures are a decent return for a side at the wrong end of the table. Liverpool will a strong defensive performance if they are to keep out Blackburn. Looking at the table, itâs the other end of the pitch which is the main concern. 67 goals have gone past Paul Robinson and into the Blackburn net so far this season. This is the second worst defence in the league (Wolves have let in 70!) and this is the big problem for Blackburn. Despite signing Scott Dann from Birmingham, (Who was linked with Arsenal & Liverpool before moving to Ewood Park) the defence hasnât really improved and this gives sides playing Blackburn hope that they can get a result. Their recent form isnât too good though. After building up a six point gap between themselves and the relegation zone a few weeks ago, Blackburn have gone on to lose their last three games, conceding 7 goals and scoring just the one. Liverpool. The away side, Liverpool, have hit a very poor run of form. 2 wins from 10 games means that Liverpool have gone from battling for a Champions League place to battling for... not very much. This run has meant that Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has come under extreme pressure and with the F.A Cup semi-final coming up, we need a good result. Iâve already said that Blackburn have a decent scoring record but a poor defence. At Liverpool, itâs the opposite. We have been strong in defence but the failure to put the ball in the back of the net has been the big problem this season. Liverpool have hit the woodwork far too often this season and you can talk about bad luck etc. but, at the end of the day, the finishing hasnât been good enough. With the return of Daniel Agger, the Liverpool defence will be boosted significantly. He has looked very good alongside Martin Skrtel. There is no doubt that Jamie Carragher has been excellent for Liverpool over the past 15 years but the defence looks stronger with Agger in alongside Skrtel. The goalscoring will need to be addressed for this game. Just 37 goals have been scored this season and this has been the massive problem. With the Blackburn defence not the best, there will probably be chances for the Liverpool strikeforce to get goals. If they can take some of these chances, Liverpool could finally get a positive result. Failure to do so could mean another poor result for Liverpool and a positive result for Blackburn in their fight against relegation. Injury News. Blackburn Rovers Michel Salgado: Rib Injury. Bellers, Suarez and Kuyt must start for me. We have to attached otherwise we'll just leak a goal and that will be it.
Honestly not fussed if we win or not atm but predict a win for us. More concerned about youngsters getting a chance and obvs the FA cup.
He is just average though, don't think he is good enough. Rather see the likes of Coady involved along with Sterling. Blackburn need a win to help their survival. We are away and have a big semi final on saturday, I can only see us losing. 3-1 to Blackburn.
Me. Why not? Playing more up front should increase the chance of a goal. Yes I know he missed a sitter.
Hmm FA cup coming up, Kenny will probably rest players, squad is average, Blackburn just got thrashed and need a win at home. Loss 2-0. Hope we win, just don't see it and see us being cautious with the FA cup on the weekend, even an eye on that game and not one on the Blackburn game as the league is probably over for most of our players.
We dont want ANY players with the Blackburn game in there legs when we Everton on Saturday Team v Blackburn Doni Flanno Carra Coates Aurelio Downing Shelvey Hendo Sterling Maxi Kuyt Team v Everton Doni Kelly Skrtel Agger Jose Gerrard Shelvey Spearing Bellamy Carroll Suarez
