I've just watched it and yes he makes the meal of it and he's offside but there's a replay showing there is contact and Shaun Derry didn't complain that he got sent off afterwards, i know this is a huge moment in the title race and in the relegation batlle as well but my thoughts on it, is it probably shouldn't of been a penalty but i'm not complaining.
Oh well that's alright then!! Doesn't matter if the linesman made the most inept decision you could ever see!!
I think you would have won 5-0 if the player was rightly blown up for offside. I think Man U took pity.
You're not very clever. The touch was minimal to nothing and what is the point in arguing a sending off? The ref isn't going to change his mind
In real time my first thoughts were it was a penalty. It being offside is the only thing that changes that, still a pen if not offside. The sending off is a joke though to be frank.
The sending off and the non-offside decisions were ridiculous, but Young was bound to go down. It's a well known fact that he is one of the lightest (and quickest) players.
It WAS offside and it WAS a foul Young went down easily but Derry didnt shoulder barge him, he put out his hand and pushed him once it was a foul, it was a red Problem for me wasnt the foul, it was the assistant not flagging for offside
I was at the game today and definetly thought you deserved to win however: 1. 92% possesion means nothing. Look at Swansea yesterday or Arsenal the week before against us, they had over 70% possession and didnt get a point 2. Young was offside hence not a pen or red card for derry 3. Wellbeck was also offside 4. I dont no whether this is a regular occurence or a one time thing, but why do so many of your fans leave before you even reached the 85 minute mark. You were 2-0 up against a relegation threatened 10 man team at home. Why leave? At least stay and clap the players on their performance at the end
As I said he DID go down easily, however Derry DEFINATELY put his hand on him Had it not been offside and that not given most supporters would have been annoyed Plus going down easily and diving are 2 different things For me Barca are the kings of getting freekicks in that way
Just to clarify... contact automatically means a penalty, Shaun Derry being a good honest pro rather than complaining to the ref as 99% of players would have done makes it more of a penalty, your crystal ball tells you you would have won the game because you were on top at the time? You probably would have won as nine times out of ten you do, though we'll never know, but it's incredible that anyone can defend Young and it's a sad indication of what many people consider now to be good play rather than blatant cheating. I'm only 22 but I remember when football was a man's game and players would be embarrassed to win a penalty in that way, especially when he gave up a chance to shoot to throw himself over.
