I think the definition of winning the General Election is who finishes with the most seats, and the Tories are 1/8 to do that. Still a fairly strong chance that Labour and the Lib dems would form a government between them though. I suspect a hung parliament will indeed lead to major electoral reform, possibly even the abandonment of the First Past the Post System in favour of Proportional Representation system like used in the regional Parliaments across the UK. I'm pretty sure the Lib Dems would be pushing for that as a condition of forming any government.
i think i'm personally dismissive of the idea of independance because of my dislike of the SNP, if i could seperate the two i might look more favourably at it. as it stands i'm not particulary comfortable with any type of nationalism and dont like that we're all made out to be ginger, tartan wearing, short bread eating, bag pipe playing teuchtars (other the bagpipes thats me bang on, but thats not the point). i had someone telling me last wk that a proposed memorial to a fort (couldnt give a **** either way) or some pish was terrible because the redcoats didnt give quarter on the field of culloden it was 1746! stuff like that happened! bonnie prince charlie had gutted derby the year before! he wasnt some sort of ****ing warrior poet ....anyway, not convinced by the economic arguements for independance and i like being part of the UK as together we're part of a larger prescence internationally and there's the affinity we share through language etc. as for the tories their maths doesnt add up, "recognising marriage through tax" is social engineering and just plaing wrong and if we get people to elect police commissioners we'll end up with lunatics raving about hanging and throwing shoplifter off cliffs. i do like their ideas about result based targets instead of performance based targets though. labour is the part who's ideas i agree with most although i think they have performed poorly over the last few years the lib dems are like labour with most of their thinking on priorities etc but are a lot more honest about what they would do (something they can do because they dont expect to win) i'm just rambling now. i'll vote lib dem.
I think that the Volcano was the first sign of the Rapture and that Clegg, Brown and Cameron are Pestilence, War and Famine. That **** Griffin is Death himself.
A PR electoral system would be great for Scotland, Wales and NI. Any future British Government would probably need the support of the likes of the SNP and PC and probably have to incorporate them into the Government itself. It would also end the ridiculous situation that the mostly middle/upper class, mostly southern English, mostly farm/countryside minority that is the Conservative party get to rule all the cities and the entire north of Britain when they have practically no representation in those regions.
Last few elections they have campaigned out my way (Polloskhields)... Last Scottish Election they were out banging on about Kriss Donald. The last Election when I stayed in Viewpark they had a guy I went to school with as the local council candidate!!!
i heard a discussion thing on the radio a couple of days ago and that someone was arguing that if you do this you'll probably end up with a BNP MP.......it's a ****ing democracy! we'd see a lot more coalition governments but it works for plenty of other countries so i dont see why we cant do it
I know this I'm pointing out that there will be a lot of that 6 million in the public sector that vote Tory and end up losing their job
I suppose that one reason to vote Tory ... Public sector workers...twats Public sector Unions ... two faced twats
