Anyone watching the golf over the weekend? I have decided to give it a go on Sunday night, never been a big fan but it kind of interests me.
Prem the best in the world? CL- Barca and Real semis, Europa- Valencia, Ath. Madrid, and Bilbao. Domination.
Personally, I think it depends how your looking at the word 'best'. If you mean in terms of quality and standard of teams, then La Liga is better. If you mean terms of watchability (making words up time) or competitiveness then I'd say the Premier League. In La Liga, the top two often win by four or five goals with the main two players bagging hat-tricks fairly regularly. In the Premier League, we get big wins like that but they are far from regular. A lesser team is much more likely to get a result against a bigger team too.
It really depends upon how you try and analyse it. As football, along with all sport, is really an entertainment for the watcher then the viewing figures will indicate which league is more valued. On that basis the Premiership wins hands down! If you attempt to assess technical capability then La Liga will take the honours. Real can play Barca as many times as they like but they do not attract the same worldwide tv audience as Liverpool v United (which BTW attracts a bigger worldwide audience than the Superbowl). Across the season the Premiership offers far more competitive matches than does La Liga and generally a more entertaining game. You takes your pick!
More of what yoru knowledge is of teams as well. Luckily they have it to where you can get all the prem games in before the la liga games so I can watch both. The Italian league kind of coincides at the same time and only watch if it is Juve, Roma, AC, Inter, Lazio, Udinese, Napoli playing each other, can't watch the rest. La liga is the same, if it is Real, barca, valencia, Bilbao, At Madrid, used to be Villareal until they fell off ( could be some good buys there btw), and probably Sevilla in the mix I am looking to watch.
But Bluff, I don't think that you're exactly an average US viewer! Take a look at the audience levels for any other league than the Prem. Then do a little investigative work on the relative prices for the ad space. That will answer your question. The BBC has a channel dedicated to Gaelic speakers - but very few watch it!
Just let me go with my opinions Dave! I see where you are coming from and know that the Prem is the more exciting due to the style of play but I am more in tune with the South American and Spanish style, which is a big reason I couldn't stand Hodgson from day one and got a bit nervous when Kenny came out and said " maybe we should play more direct " I hope we keep our pass and move , shake and bake as that is a big thing that hooked me many years ago Anyway...........................MLS is streets ahead of everyone so.....
I will! The Masters is a great tournament and well worth a watch in my opinion. I ain't got Sky Sports so i'm just gonna be watching the last two days.
OK Some of the pass and move football that we have played the season has been very very good. Like you I don't want us to go "more direct". However, I do find La Liga and Seria A somewhat insipid most of the time. Brazillian football also tends to be "we attack, they win the ball and they attack then we win the ball........" But it does have its sensational moments ( a bit like the Dutch league with more romantic names). Argentinian football is another matter some real skill but counteracted by defenders who appear to want to start WW3!
Love me some Argentine league! Shame River is in the second division as when Boca and River play it is a much watch! Estudiantes would fit in well with the prem, they are probably the roughest club of the bunch!
I suppose a point is better then a loss but still... twenty-one shouts, five on target and just one goal. Hit post two or three times again too. Plus we had a further eleven corners.
Someone pour me something strong, coaching today and had to deal with my first ****ing parent issue, ****ing ******ed!
Coaches / managers aren't really my strong point this morning! I've missed about four games in three years and have been fairly regularly in the first team the whole time but got a text last night saying we had 21 turning up today so I wasn't in the squad. Fair to say I wasn't very happy!
