Nolhman, did you notice any effect on the atmosphere when you were at OT last season? Saying that, I don't think the anti-Glazer protests really helped. And Swarbs is right, many of those sporting their green and yellow scarves (why can't they make them green and gold?) don't have a clue about the finances of the club. Some people just like something to rebel and fight against I suppose.
Green and Yellow must of made the Glazers chuckle because it was a pathetic attempt to get rid of them. Ticket sales have only gone down due to a recession but revenues have been made up in other ways so it does not really matter. They are not even that expensive when you compare the prices to Arsenal. This is the way of football and that is the truth so why can't people get used to it?
Football has not always been like this though, tickets were easily affordable once upon a time. Why should people just sit back and let prices go up? Won't that just give the owners more encouragement to keep on ripping off the fans?
this is an utter nonsense of a post. Yes arsenals are more expensive than us however that does not mean our prices are not a disgrace. They are. And arsenals are not that much more expensive than us. People cant get used to it because its an absoulute disgrace. I wouldnt expect you to understand, its easy for someone who sits in front of a tv watching utd to critisise those who do go, you dont have the first clue nolhman, you never go anyway, so who the hell are you to critisise anyone?
So if all tickets in 10 years time cost ã200 you wouldn't complain as 'thats how football is'? Not a good enough defence for your argument
Nohlman. theres a reason why you blame green and gold for last year and that is because the real reason we lost was Rooney's Injury.
Definitely agree that wages have played a major role in price increases across the board. I remember back in 2000 there was huge controversy over Keane becoming the first ã50,000 a week footballer in the UK. Now Rooney and Torres are on almost four times that much. Not sure how accurate the figures are from a Liverpool forum, but apparently our player wage bill went from ã32.1 million in 99/00 to ã101.1 miliion in 09/10 based on the andersred blog. That's a 200% increase in ten years, or around 11.6% a year compounded. A bit sickening when you consider the average wage increase in the UK is around 3-4% a year, so most people's wages have probably gone up around 40% over the same period. Even since the Glazers took over our total wage bill has gone from ã56.9 million in 04/05 to ã101.1 million in 09/10 - an increase of 78%. Over the same period, the price of a season ticket in Stretford End Tier 2 has gone from ã427.50 to ã684, an increase of 60%. Which implies that for all the mud thrown at the Glazers for increasing ticket prices, they haven't increased the ticket prices by as much as the player wages have increased. The Glazers are great,How a club that can make massive turnovers make ã100 million losses.Only Mr Bean would do better.
Liverpool fans are really dumb Man Utd never made a 100m loss If Man Utd made a 100m loss then we would not be qualifying for ffp when are present model is qualifying quite easily. This a very complicated matter but the 100m loss was not a Utd loss and it was due to one off payments and exceptional circumstances. And would not count under FFP rules as after debt interest payments Utd make a 50-60m profit as operating profits are plus 100m and interest payments are 45m. Under the FFP rules we meet them easly. So Liverpool fans you can cut your worries. A source told ESPNsoccernet: "There have been suggestions that the club are financially handicapped in some way with the latest accounts of the club's parent company showing more than a ã100 million loss for the year, but they are exceptional circumstances. "There is ã165 million cash in the bank, and even as we stand the club would pass UEFA's fair financial play rules. No one is saying Sir Alex is going to spend all the cash in the bank, but he is going to replace a number of star players, and that is not going to come cheap. If he wishes to spend ã100 million the funds are in place for him to do so. "As for the club's finances, Manchester United are on course to break the ã100 million commercial profits barrier for the year. The club is best judged financially from the last quarterly accounts of the club, which showed the debt in the region of ã500 million, interest repayments of ã45 million but ã100 million profits in a year."
And to think Bosman was in 442 saying how much players owe him for what he did regarding transfers and wages.
Bosman did more harm to fans that all the owners and debts in the world. Now that players can move for free at the end of their contracts, they are effectively free to demand the wages they want when their contracts are close to expiry. No club will risk letting their top players go on a free like Davids, McManaman and Campbell managed so they either cave in or sell them to someone who will meet their demands. Look at McManaman's move to Real for example. In early 2001 Roy Keane becomes the first player to earn ã50k a week in the PL, but two years earlier McManaman had managed to get ã70k a week just by moving on a free transfer. McManaman was a great player, and probably one of the most underrated in PL history, but no way was he worth ã70k a week. But of course once other players worked out they could get that just by running their contracts down, the clubs had no choice but to agree to massive rises. And the fans have no option but to pay for them if they want their clubs to keep getting the top players. Even Anders of the andersred blog admits that wage inflation at United has been twice as high as expected since the Glazers took over - the price of attracting and keeping the players needed to stay at the top.
There is ã165 million in the bank. Whats it doing in the bank whne United are crying out for at least 6 players.Oh I forgot you still have Rafael and Fabio,(who are both ****),and you're the bestest team in the world cos you've got Giggsy and Scholesy and nobody else does. And Scholesy has ginger hair, and that makes him good.
Your obsession with United is amusing, I bet your life would be an empty mess without somebody to hate.
My god, you're right. I mean with six more players we could be top of the table, in the semi finals of the FA Cup, and in the last eight of the Champions League! Hang on a minute....
KingPepeReina That is a fact its in the accounts. Its sitting their for 2 reasons It makes the club look more attractive and makes the net debt seem less Also Ferguson does not want to use it yet. Our team is getting on fine and Rafael is better than any full back you have in your **** team and yes you are ****. Just look at your league position. You have not been in the top 4 now 2 seasons coming and don't look like ever returning. Your team is **** and has been for 20 plus years.
