Trouble is they get into europe via the fair play award, we have no chance of that! Currently Swansea are leading that, can you imagine if they got there representing England?
If it were anybody else I'd have sympathy but can't stand Wigan. I believe that these things even themselves out (apart from United). I remember when we had 2 offside goals given against us when we played at OT and nobody batted an eyelid. Wigan have had their fair share of luck this season.
Quick thought on tomorrows game. Being an early kick off on a sunday at OT can work in our favour. More quiet than normal and if we can hold them at bay for more than a half we could stand a great chance of getting something from it. Thoughts?
OT is never as loud as it should be. Unless we ship a hatful of goals this is a free game for us, we can relax with no expectations - in fact there is more pressure on Utd. Anything from this game is a massive psychological boost and I fancy us for a score draw.
My dislike of Wigan is petty, poor support is one reason but I've hated Whelan since his comments about United/Ferguson the day before they were due to play them in 07/08 which I believe influenced the outcome of the title race. Used to despise the fact they would roll over for United but give all their title rivals a good game (Chelsea, Liverpool Arsenal etc) Plus they've scored so many late goals against us
It's quiet anyway Norway. Been there a fair bit and it can be like a mausoleum. Maybe the TV turns up the crowd volume sometimes to give the impression of atmosphere. I'm sure DL recently posted something along these lines too. On balance maybe an early goal with the possibility of another on the break (I wish ). As has been said on other threads the worst thing we can do is go out thinking we're already beaten. We need belief. Blackburn won there after all. We need a strong (ie impartial) ref above all else. I noticed from the LFW ref report that Fergie slated this ref last season for something or other. I hope he referees the game on merit and doesn't think about the next big gig at OT.
I know it's quiet, been there myself. Mainly due to all the tourists in the weekends, this goes for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal as well. But they can generate quite an atmosphere at night games, especially CL games and against other top teams in midweeks (less tourists). The point I was trying to make is that for early kick offs (sats and sundays) it's even more quiet and subdued than usual.
Q: How do you know a club is full of plastic tourists? A: They sell matchday scarves outside the ground with the teams that play that day.
Just watching MOTD, Wigan very unlucky, but Chelsea very beatable and they will be even more nervy against us; Bolton absolutely dire. Pity there were approximately 0 Foolham fans there to see a very good performance by them.
We were woeful but under RDM with the 4-2-3-1 system we've been much more rigid and tougher to beat. Won all of our home games as well. In truth we don't have the players to play 4-3-3 which was something AVB refused to accept. Wigan were in good form and keep the ball well. They should have got a point today at least, that was as good as they played at Anfield.
Like we did at Liverpool. That was the game where I first began to have doubts about COLIN's ability at this level.
Norway are you watching the FLS? Warnock's Leeds were a disgrace against Reading. Its funny now that COLIN is gone to another Club, I'm starting to hate him again!!
Nope, but I watched the game yesterday. Shocked to be honest, glad we didn't see that last year with us. Guess he's found out that his current squad is so low on quality compared to ours last year that he's gone for the good old dirty tactics. Starting to see where all the WBA Warnock knockers were coming from. Thats why I made the Dirty Leeds thread
Just watched MOTD and see that BOTH Chelsea goals were offside. Commiserations to Latics who must feel very aggrieved this morning. I just wonder whether this signals a slight change in fortune for QPR? We will know more by 3:15 today of course but the greater pressure is on Man U to win today. I notice that the long odds of a QPR win (19) has now dropped to 12. Still long enough but not impossible.
