I wouldn't pick Arfa until he's performed consistently to be honest. As for the person commenting on his injury record, i think most players would have a chunk of time off if De Jong decided to break their leg into a couple of extra peices. Cisse looks like the real deal, and an absolute steal for £9m. He doesn't do anything for the team other than score goals, but 8 goals in 7 games so far is good enough for me! They've not all been tap-ins either, some screamers in those few. The main thing is that unlike some other strikers he gets sompared to (Bent, Owen, etc) so far he hasn't missed many or had 10 opportunities per goal. But why would our players want to go to Liverpool anyway? Only winding you up with that last comment, but i am finding it amusing that everyone is assuming our best players are definately going to leave in the summer. As for liverpool players I'd have Agger in a second. The only other players i think would improve us would be Enrique (but don't want him back), Gerrard (but he's told old and highly paid for my liking now) and Suarez (but i don't like him and he may unsettle our team). So only Agger then really; Reina is excellent but Krul is improving and looks like he could be better in time.
I suppose, I just think if you have one foot that's that good it doesn't matter. Rvp would be another example of a very one footed player, you would definately prefer him to shoot with his right lol
I think the point of the article was purely hypothetical, it could of been posted on the Preston board just to see how other fans rate our players?...
Slightly unrelated, but after this weekend your lot could be in 5th, just two points off 4th and 3rd. Well, that's where you are now, but with the others still to play. Arsenal play City and Spurs are away at your rivals; can see both losing those. Although, I doubt Sunderland will do you any favours if they can help it. Actually, just noticed Chelsea have Wigan at home, so you're likely to drop back to 6th. But you'd take that, wouldn't you?
Fair enought Stevie T, and i know its sort of the purpose of a forum but I don't think its a formality that our players are going to leave. Maybe i'm being naive considering Ashley is likely to want to cash in. I wasn't having a go though
Then why cannot you accept that we would only want a few of your team (if any) IF they were available. It is our opinion that your team have yet to be truly tested over the full course of a season. Perhaps, this time next season it will be possible to give some valid analysis. But, as it stands, I would not buy any of your players should they be made/make themselves available.
Foredeckdave i don't think i said anywhere that you should want all of our team. I said Cisse looked very good but that's about all really. If they're available i'm sure some clubs will be interested but I think you guys mainly need a poacher, other parts of your team look decent to be honest. Hence Cisse, if he carries on like he has been.
If I had a choice I'd take Lucas, when he was linked to Stoke City I was facepalming at the laptop all evening... He has both Cabaye and Tiote traits in one player.
Lucas is a good example why you should judge foreign imports as they are gaining experience rather than off the bat. It's ridiculous to write a player off as he's beginning to adjust to a new league when they have to adjust to different style's in strategy's and a complete difference in game tempo's and also little habits that go unpunished in Germany or Spain wouldn't go unpunished in England. You would be surprised about how many players go missing 80% during games for the first season and become key players the season after.
I don't know, I presume before the new season starts. P.S On topic, dare any of us mention Alan Pardew?
If I where the guys in charge at Liverpool I'd try my darned best to bring in Gus Hidiink and sack DC because his signings are senseless... big money spent on guys who need the tactics built around the individuals, just hasn't worked.
Hmmmm. Gerrard or Lucas for us. Tough choice. Probably Gerrard as he is one of the best player in the world (imo). You need a striker. Probably not one of ours though. Huntelaar or Gomez would be ideal for you (unrelated to this I know but meh).
Id agree with this for Newcastle. Although, Agger is a better player than Skrtel I think Colocinni needs a Skrtel type of defender next to him. Agger and Colocinni as a partnership might lack that bit of power and strength needed.
