We started March either playing good teams or having good performances and everybody was complaining about missed chances. As time has gone on the chances have dried up as the performance level has dropped. And how many first team players do Leicester have? 5 CBs for starters - rotation? Why would we question AP saying we ran out of steam when you're now agreeing with me that it was obvious? A minute ago though you were saying it was ridiculous to suggest that as a reason because players have it easy. I just don't see the point of people having a go at the players, like McKenna and Rosenior for not trying when it's inevitable that at this stage after the month they've had that they're going to be tired compared to the opposition.
The lowest I've felt following city in a while. I'll be there on Monday supporting them, Boro aren't on a great run themselves but the manner of our defeats in the last 4 games is alarming. Fustrating to see the good work for most of the season come undone in these last few games.
I mean we didnt run out of steam we arent good enough. Are you going to go through how many games Birmingham players have played individually then? It seem Marlon has missed very few, games and goals!!
Our first XI is good enough, that's how we got in the playoffs in the first place and have managed to take 6 points from both Reading and Cardiff, 4 points from Birmingham, and been unbeaten against Brighton where in at least the first game we could have won with a bit more luck. We don't have enough support for them so when they run out of steam individually the team starts to. I'll not do the whole Birmingham squad, but Marlon has started 35 games this season, and at least 2 of his games in March were appearances as a substitute from about 70 minutes and he's been subbed about the same time in at least one of his March starts.
I expected better off you. We are were we are cos we aint good enough. Dont quote individual games its over a season. Otherwise explain Barnsley Palce etc. Chris Burke 47 games 10 goals. Caldwell 47 games.
My worry is that we need to arrest the slide now because once a team goes into freefall it carries over to the next season a lot of the time.
I don't see why I'm being criticised for my view on this. I said preseason that we had a good team but not a good enough squad so we could be in the top 6 if we got lucky with injuries/suspensions and didn't have a fixture pile up. We had a team in the top 6, we were struggling to cover having just Koren and Chester out from the first XI, have had nervous moments about Rosenior and McKenna (McKenna now being suspended), and have struggled in March and over Xmas/New Year when the fixtures were closer together. If what I'm saying about the squad is wrong, it means it's coincidence that what I said would happen has happened how I said it would happen and at the times I said it would happen. I even singled out the danger of Koren and a CB being injured at the same time leaving us with real selection problems, although I'll give you I chose Hobbs and not Chester in my illustration. I'd love to know what the odds of me doing that based on oure chance are, given it would be chance. Re: Birmingham - Caldwell is a CB isn't he? I never said I was worried about our CBs getting tired, it tends to be a less exhausting position than playing full back like Rosenior does or playing CM. How much freedom does Burke have from defensive responsibility? Our free role is Koren, and all I've said with him is I'd take him off after 60 minutes a few times in spells like March to stop him burning out and becoming susceptible to injuries.
I wouldn't be too worried about that. We should have at least 5 changes to the starting XI from the current team (ie today) to the one that starts next season (both CBs, Koren back, a striker, and a winger). If we don't have that many changes I'll be more worried about the squad depth than the momentum.
I like your positivity, am usually the same but have got a bad feeling about us at the moment. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark! Seriously though, something IS wrong at the club, I think a lot of us have this gut feeling.
It's like when your mrs goes off on one but refuses to acknowledge any things wrong even though something clearly is, we can all sense it but no one has a ****ing clue what. Any female posters on here to try figure it out?
I'm not sure what the point you're making is now? We were obviously good enough at one point: only a month or so ago we were one of the best teams in the league bar finishing. The way it's gone tits up since then is really disappointing but we were obviously good at one point. As many will know my own view is that NB's tactics make it hard for us and this is the main problem. We can sign Hamill or ****ing Ronaldo to play on the wing but if we never get them the ball in an attacking position what can they create? We don't use our attacking players properly at all, even Koren when fit. I hate to be all dramatic usually but like it's hard to ignore that something must be wrong in the club. Everything we're hearing is just bad news and more bad news at the moment, why are we announcing live on the radio that we aren't going to spend anything in the summer? That'll help the season ticket sales...
Well I am female but can't figure it out either but like I have said for a while I just have this women's intuition that there is something not quite right about the whole City set up. I would love to be wrong and I have tried to stay positive. I can't be hard on Nick cos despite his crazy subs etc I think he has become the whipping boy for something that is beyond his control going on behind the scenes.
