Why is it poor? If you look at it, we are where we should be. City spend way more then us in wages and transfer fees. United are United. We are above Chelsea and Liverpool, who also outspend us in transfers and wages. 3rd/4th is our natural position if you look at it. If we do better then that, we are overachieving. Below is underachieving. But right now, we are 4th and need a point against City to get back into third.
Not the money argument We have plenty of money and have done for years. We choose not to spend. We competed with Utd and won titles whilst having far less income. How is it that Utd are competing with Chelsea and City? Tired of the money excuses - that is all they are. My prediction is you will see this summer that we will change our approach and compete properly next year.
Look at the tables in recent years and compare the wage bill. Last year was a perfect example of this. United have Fergie but they also spend. They have one of the biggest wages bills in the league and spent loads of money on the likes of De Gea, Jones and Young. We competed with United all them years ago because we spent money back then and there was no Chelsea or City. If you look at what we spend and our wage bill, we are where we should be.
Wenger has said that he wants to complete transfers quickly this summer and that the market is 'hotting up for us' right now. So it's not really your prediction, more you simply reflecting what Wenger is saying. (just pointing this out, so we don't hear any more of your 'I called it' claims )
Perhaps Wenger has realised what a pigs ear he has made of it for so long and is finally waking up. Hope so.
Exactly. I could give you countless other examples of teams with less money winning. It takes good management, good coaching, character, and the right players. We have failed in all those depts over the last 6 years.
First: United like I said still spend big. Secondly: That is Sir Alex Ferguson. In our current set-up, Wenger is not underachieving.
Chelsea have Fulham away on Monday. Dempsey will sort them out. Also the Barca games will take their toll. Not the mention the fact, we have them at home. We have beat Chelsea in our last two meeting and our pace has caused them all sorts of problems.
yes siry, chelsea were expected to win 2day, the fact they struggled for that win shows it's not all rosy as it seems to be (not to mention their first goal was offside by a mile), and as you said, the games coming will take their toll on Chelsea, you can already see them tiring (hence the struggle against wigan 2day). They still have Fulham away, us away, Liverpool away, and Newcastle home, I really don't see Chelsea ending in the top 4.
Just checked, and our fixture with them is right in the middle of the Barca games. Will say, John Terry play all three? Doubt it.
