I'm as big a fan of this guy as anyone, but did anyone else think today he let his desire to win at all costs slightly get the better of him? There must have been four or five occasions where he spectacularly went down with minimal (if any) contact, then went on to appeal to the referee. I think he was lucky not to be booked for it to be honest. This isn't the first time either, he's been in trouble for diving before and I hope someone has a word with him about it, it's not exactly saintly conduct.
I did think the penalty appeal was a bit of a dive in all honesty. There was a delayed reaction which you wouldn't expect if there was contact. It's a shame such a good player feels the need to dive. He shouldn't have to, even if he is desperate to win.
F*ck off. Lallana was absolutely class today. He worked is absolute socks off and could of scored a couple.
To be honest I'd have to see that incident again, but he might have got more out of the referee on that occasion if he hadn't already been making a meal of every challenge before it.
From what I remember of the incident he did get caught by Ashdown but ran a few more steps before falling over. If he'd gone down straight away it would have been a penalty and maybe a red card but by running on a few more steps it looked like the ball ran away from him and he dived. I'm not taking a shot at him, he did seem to be one of your more dangerous and industrious players on the day, and with Kitson calling for fouls and cards every time he was touched there is no way any Pompey fan could criticize Lallana for a bit of gamesmanship.
I am constantly hastagging #beatthecheats on Twitter and that really frustrated me to see! Was livid!
I believe Adkins had a word with Adkins after the West Ham Ham game, when he dived (I think it was the WH game)). I hope he does likewise today. The referee was very lenient not to book Lallana, as it was a clear dive. As MAJR says, there was some initial contact, but Lallana did the right thing and stayed on his feet. But as the ball rolled out of play, he just threw himself to the ground.
Yes lallana rounded the keeper but he had lost control of the ball and the keeper was a good couple of foot away from him. he should have had a shot earlier.
That's one way of looking at it, but if he gets a reputation for this kind of thing he won't get decisions so a situation like that would be impossible.
I was embarrased with his dive today. Why he saw the need to try and take it around the keeper only he knows.
"embarrassed" really? Only one thing I find embarrassing is fans having a pop at their own player. This thread is embarrassing.
So ****ing what?! If the ref had given a pen, would you have refused to celebrate if we scored from it. Tell you what, I'll go break Lallana's leg tonight... that'll learn him to mess with the "it's not cricket chaps internet brow beating society"
