It won't happen... Even if it did, Black Caviar wouldn't get a mile in her horsebox nevermind at Goodwood. Shes an absolute monster over the sprint distances, Over 8f's it'd be like hitting a brick wall a furlong from home. She can maybe get away with 7f's at home but on the different courses in the UK and France she'd be found out I feel. Goodwood is probably one of the easiest mile courses there is aswell. Frankel as probably the highest cruising speed of any horse in the world he could toe her all day long and then quicken again to put the race to bed. The frightening thing is he can quicken off any pace not once not twice but three times if you listen to Henry Cecil. The way he absolutely destroyed Canford Cliffs at Goodwood stamped that for Me. Canford Cliffs drifted because he was asked to go quicker that he possibly could, Look at the stride pattern of both horses Frankel was in a different parish that day... If he had dropped down to 5 or 6f's as a three year old he would have probably been Champion Sprinter, He was certainly quicker than Dream Ahead who in turn is rated as the second highest rated sprinter in the world last year, 4lb superior to Hay List, Black Caviar's biggest beating dummy! I'd love to see it happen but I think over 8f's Frankel would win everyday against Black Caviar....
If i was Moody i would tell Sheikh Fahad to poke his offer.Could you possibly have a race with a more uneven playing field.Everything would be in Frankels favour,Has won over the course, optimum distance(So far),home country advantage. If you want a proper duel get them both over to Dubai and race over 7f.
It isn't gonna happen. The connections of Frankel have stipulated they will do what is in the best interests of the horse. Tacitly speaking that means keeping him unbeaten. EOS.
A Timeform source has said that Frankel should be 1/3 for such a clash and that 2s on was massive value. I hope it happens but realistically it seems unlikely. The money won't make any difference except to build publicity which can only help.
I don't see it happening, although connections of either horse would never admit it, I am sure both would be keen to avoid each other. A million pounds in prize money, isn't realy a great deal, when you consider Frankel's stud value, and a defeat could harm that value. Connections of Frankel, have also been very conservative so far during his career, he only ran 5 times last year. If it did happen, I'd probably fancy Frankel, just because he's proven over course and distance, but the mare shouldn't be underestimated, if her stamina held out, she could trouble him
I cannot see it happening. With regards to Frankel's plans I got a leaflet through from York and it hinted very heavily that Frankel may well run in the Judmonte in August. Obviously you could say that all the big courses will drop hints that he might be there as he is serious box office but given the sponsor of the race at York you could see it happening......
Looks a shoe in to run in the Juddmonte I would have thought. The Prince would love to win his own race with his finest horse.
Why should BC come over to England to race against Frankel over a distance clearly to the advantage of Frankel. How about Frankel going over to Australia to meet BC over 6f? Neither is in the best interests of either horse so hopefully it won't happen. Unfair matches should be avoided. (Dunkirk v Arkle over 3 miles)
On a more serious note, for publicity if nothing else, Horse Racing needs its real champions, its legends. To devalue either by being beaten by the other would kinda be a shame, regardless of which way it went.
To be confident of winning on Frankel over 7f v BC, I'd go 2000 Guineas style and fly out the blocks, really pushes Frankels stamina advantage. I'd be worried she could outsprint him, but there's surely no way she'd keep up with him if he went for it from the start...
BC would have no problems sitting on his shoulder at any pace, then the great mare would be unleashed with 2f to go and win going away.
That's interesting - I have to say I was expecting most people to think that Frankel would be the comfy winner - anyone other than Dancingbraveforever actually think that the mare would win?...
Don't be fooled into thinking Frankel would need to go from the front like he did in the Guineas. Frankel could win a Kings Stand, if you ask me. He only ran like that in the Guineas because they were having problems getting him to settle
.At the end of the day Excelebration has only won one Group 1,and that was a pretty shocking one.His main accomplishments was that he watched Frankel's arse running off into the distance the most times last season(No mean achievement granted). Yes he looks a very good horse, but if he goes backwards AOB gets the criticism. If he carries on in the same vein or better, everyone will expect that and he will get zero credit. So its a no win situation for AOB. Personally i expect him to become the champion miler this season(Unless Frankel fails spectacularly at 10f).
