Hear me out on this one, he keeps telling the press he'll be here for another 3 years but i think he's saying it to not de-stablise the team because that happened 10 years ago when he said he would retire at the end of the 01/02 season and our form dipped after that but when he said he was going to stay i'm sure we were all delighted.

I'm worried that when the manager does eventually retire, i think we're going to go through a circus of managers in my opinion, Lou Macari made a good point on mutv on monday night and said whoever manages the club will have a tough task on their hands. Let's say Jose Mourinho manages us the problem i've got is will he continue with our traditions of playing attacking football and developing/ promoting the youngsters to the first team at Real Madrid he's not doing it, he bought Sergio Canales from Racing Santander and he hardly got a game for them now he's out on loan to Valencia i think he's out injured at the moment, i just hope when the manager reitres and the new manager comes in i hope the fans give him the chance and settle in and get the right results because lets say he loses his first 5 games the fans will be calling him to be sacked.

Why do you say that? You've clearly never been to a united game if you seriously, honestly think that crowd would call for a new manager to be sacked after five games. That, my friend, is utter bollocks. It's un true to say the crowd was ever calling for Fergie's head, a minority might have been but the majority certainly were not. Made up by the press that one. Ok, the crowd is a bit different now but i would suggest a new man would be given time and understanding.

Doubt he'll leave this summer. He won't quit after City have been well and truly dealt with, which means waiting for them to drop back properly, not just beating them for one season.

Not that worried when he does retire. We won't be as dominant, but we'll still be the biggest and most supported club in England, so we'll still be competing at the top. And by that point the FFP rules will have started to influence things, so City, Chelsea and Liverpool will find it much harder to compete with us.

Whoever the new manager is he'll get the support of 99% of the fans whilst he settles in.

Daffy mate, there is no point in speculating about Fergie's retirement at this point in time. We are in the middle of a two way fight for the title with a good chance of winning it. When it happens then we can have a full blooded discussion about this.

I would not have thought we should speculate about the manager's or players future in the middle of the season when none of them have declared they are leaving soon.

SAF is going nowhere this summer, maybe in three years or so. But then it's going to be a difficult task replacing him. I just hope the board will get the appointment right. The last thing we need is the managerial merry-go-round

    Truce CS?

Its not the middle of the season, you've already won this seasons prem lad because the only manager/team to prevent it ****ed up.

Your manager started from scratch after Atkinson and the rest as they say is history.

It matters not how soon he retires but who can follow him when he finally does?

I imagine the person who has the biggest say on the next manager will be SAF himself. It might just be his biggest decision as United manager and im sure he'll give it a lot of thought.

Ivor,it will be the biggest decision in United's history.

Imo Fergie will choose his successor, and it will be someone that he can rely on to keep his legacy active, but someone like Mourhino doesn't fit that bill.

I honestly think Utd will have a Fergie tried and trusted 'protoge' in place before he leaves.

PMK I didn't realise I was at war with you so no need for a truce <ok>

I cannot see the point of discussing Fergie's retirement and successor now. We have not won the prem..yet. There are still points to be won. If United f**k up against QPR and City beats the gunners it is all back on.

    A question?

Daffy (who I find quite funny in his spoof United fan style) is not you in disguise is it?

You seem to follow most of his OPs

He tends to provide OPs for you scousers to inject stuff

When I deliberately put 1 or 2 anti scouser OPs in the morning, the United board got literally flooded after a few hours with tens of old random threads from June last year, all pushed up with "any thoughts" moving the anti scouser threads right off the first page. when asked why he had done that, he said that he didn't know why.

He is also very shy in any response to an anti scouser thread. He shows no such reticence when talking about other clubs.

He put in the retirement of SAF when there was no speculation at all in the media and press about it. All the speculation was/is about the buffoon manager.

Is there something you want to tell us?

I too think SAF will call it a day in the Summer. The last time he announced his retirement he said it destabilised the squad, his latest planned date should not be heeded and is a smoke-scrreen IMO and with Mourinho making exit noises at RM I think this may be our last season with the Wizard at the helm.I hope not, obviously but its more likely this summer than in 3 years time, SAF doesnt make the same mistake twice.

Your a shameful plastic or some weird under the radar WUM, go out and read a book, educate yourself and contribute something poignant. You remnd me of my 8 year old cousin who just says things for the sake of it, gets really annoying and grates after an hour.

I miss the old 606, this United forum is dying a slow death, shame.

Agreed, but it is too much, I could understand if it was creative inspiration but what does this bring to the table. Regurgitated media coverage that he soaks up and then spews back up in the most bland fashion on not 606, someone needs to reign him in, he's outta control and it puts people off.
