I don't have any problem saying this as I have never the hate mentality that a lot of our supporters have. I understand and follow the rivalry but find the "hate " part too much. Got to say well done Pardew and his players, I would they are THE surprise package of the season, not for one minute did I think they would be pushing for top 4, didn't think they would be fighting a relegation battle either. Thought they would be steady away 10-14th something like that. After loosing Barton, Carol and Nolan a lot thought they were shooting themselves in the foot, but you look at the players they brought in and you would think they had played in the prem for years.I am not going to mention the theatrical prowess of Perch and Tiote because they should really be embarrassed enough about themselves than me mentioning it. But I will say that Jonas (not going to attempt spelling surname) is one if not the biggest con artist in the prem, I have never seen a player go to ground so easily, frequently and with such theatre as this lad. Anyway back to the well done bit, don't think they will finish top 4 ,think 6th but a good strong 6th. There it is I have said it now, well done

Yes, they have done remarkably well this season.
They weren't in any trouble today at all.

... and .... they have kept the Swans below us today.
:)

I thought the world would end as soon as I typed that. A little surprised and overwhelmingly disappointed it didn't.

He's still a ****ing arsehole IMO. Obviously him and Dekka have done some good work behind the scenes but the praise Ashley's getting is ultimately reflected off Pardew and his players' performances, if we were doing badly on the pitch some of the stupid ****ing decisions he's made this season would be getting a lot more scrutiny and he'd still be branded as a clown and an utter disaster.

This isn't directed at you but it really pisses me off when I see posts by fans of southern clubs etc posting **** like "I bet those fickle twats love Ashley now" all over the net. No one up here has forgotten what he's done (and is continuing to do) and still hate his guts for it. It's Pardew, the players, the coaching and scouting staff that most of us really admire.

Didn't he get rid of your mountains of debt? Hasn't he got you back to where you were? Challenging for the champions league.

Sure he's not made any friends doing it the way he has, but if we were likely to get Europe...

I wouldn't care if our stadium was called the Alan Shearer hair clinic.

Credit where it is due, they have done well and it is always good to see a team get amongst the so called 'top six' like Everton did a few seasons ago.

For me it signifies a great season next year, with several teams getting amongst the elite!!, including us ........ can't wait!

Interest-free loan I believe so he could call it in any time he wants, it's just not really in his interests to do so seeing as it would ruin us and ultimately his investment.

Good article, I love the rivalry but could never judge someone in real life for the football team they support. I think some people on here (mags and mackems) dislike people in reallife just for the football team they support.

That lad is a cracking player and his second goal was just brilliant.

There is little point denying that they are having a good season and a top 6 place is virtually assured imo.

Well done indeed.

Thing is, in another 7 weeks the slate is wiped clean and we start all over again - only this time we wont be giving them a Brucie bonus head start.

Not sure that it has to be said, as many of my colleagues and in-laws are mags, I try to be magnanimous when they are doing well and not go over the top when we are.

I am a grandfather of moderately mature years in a profession which requires decorum and objectivity but when they win I still feel like someone has kicked me in the unmentionables and I want to reciprocate with our lasses cat, I bloody hate it when they win, it spoils my night but I will never admit that, I don’t want them to gloat.

Jonas just has a very low pain threshold. Stop making fun of him for that. It's not nice.
