My goodness Josh, you appear to be using stats to justify Beckford. This from the lad who stated quite heatedly on numerous occasions during the Keogh v Beccio discussions that stats shouldn't be used to present the overwhelming case for Beccio!!
I go on performance and my opinion first and foremost and have done here. If overwhelming stats back my view then fair enough, take the stats out if you want, he is still a striker that scores goals, very pacey, hangs of the last man, great finisher, someone we have not properly replcaed and has scored some very good goals at premiership level, not to mention getting us promoted from League 1.
Sniff, sniff. Horse? Dog? Nah, think it's bull. What a load of baloney. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't use stats when you're clearly so much against them (for your own ends). I personally disagree with your opinion, and those who sit around me at ER will almost certainly remember me giving JB regular pelters. I expressed my opinion earlier in this thread, so won't repeat myself. I will however wonder out loud how a guy who did so well in the Premiership would deign to sign for Lesta. Strange career development plan at the very least. Think it says loads about the man.
Is this just semantics? Being offered the same money that he was getting as a new signing from Wealdstone (who?) after those glorious seasons you have cited is not being treated poorly?
At first when you started posting against my view, I thought you were a dickhead who just wanted to annoy me at every possible chance now I just think your stupid. I don't mean that to be a mindless insult, more something I have just noticed I also think it says loads about the guy. I don't entirely blame him given the fact he's about 28 and hit professional football very late considering the times especially. He just wants to make as much money from football as he can, I much prefer the loyal player but there isn't many these days and that doesn't take away from what he did for leeds I'm certain we offered him 10k a week, this was prior to us knowing whether we were going to be promoted or not mind you. I doubt that was what he was already on, he asked for 15k a week and we said no, poor management of the situation yes, but treating a player poorly no. Giving into player demands does not mean you are treating him well and vice versa By the way, I know these figures as fact due to me growing up with his brother
My information is different, a first hand account of a conversation with JB himself. He stated that he was offered no additional money just a new contract term. Next time either of us see him, we will just have to ask him ourselves, eh? PS If accurate, would that 10,000 amount have made him the highest paid Leeds player at that time?
Yes it would have made him the highest paid leeds player but we immediately signed Schmeichal who I believe was on 14k. I may be wrong about that one though I'll speak to his brother and try to discretely ask him to ask JB how much he is on at Leicester, I'd be interested to know
Josh, am I being stupid because I accuse you of double standards? You're the one that took the view that stats were not important, and abused quite a number of us that took the opposite view. Several structured arguments against Keogh were put to you, all involving stats, and you insisted that stats weren't important - your 'gut feel' is King. Now we find that you've swung your view full circle by using stats to present a Beckford argument. Somehow I don't think I'm the stupid one. Remember, it's well documented on the threads. Or does that count as stats too (oops! I forgot, stats are King now, aren't they?). Or perhaps it was your brother that made the posts .....
In a word, yes I'd like for you to point out where I abuse people that take a different opinion to me, I very rarely do that on a forum especially. Your stupid because your black and white, you can't use two sets of arguments to present your point, you fail to discuss the argument, instead you write something ****ing utterly pointless and stupid for example 'did your brother write that?' or 'Gonna start talking about keogh again?' or any other ones you often come out with, if you don't wanna respond with a reasoned view then just don't. Secondly, I didn't actually use stats to put my point across for Beckford, I showed them but that was not my main argument. I always base my opinion first. If Beckford fell over the whole game, gave away freekicks constantly and every time he touched the ball lost it but still had the same stats as he does I'd say he's useless.
I'd have him back in a heartbeat. He has pace. He had a good working relationship with Becchio. And he would provide Ross with some serious competition. He's still a 20 goal a season player. We love him, as witnessed by the reaction when we last played Leicester. Why wouldn't we want him back???
Beckford brought pace and scared the hell out of other defences. He needed a good player alongside him to take all the high balls. That was first Kandol and then Becchio. Beckford's downfall was his low scoring to shooting ratio and his sulking. But he made life at LUFC much more interesting. Things happened. Games were exciting in general. I much prefer excitement and vfm than the dross we are currently being served.
Moyes gave JB 600K TO LEAVE EVERTON this is after he had sold his main striker Yak what does that tell you?At Leicester he has shown little or no desire even thogh he is on at least 40k a week .It speaks volumes that the only person able to handle his ego was Graysonso I suggest he swaps him with Rhodes plus £5mfrom Leicester
??? Some very strange assertions in there 60, but the one I would disagree with wholheartedly is that he has shown little or no desire for Leicetsre. On the contrary, every time I have seen him, he really puts in a shift. In the last game,[ according to a Leicester City supporter in a thread on not606 or ja606] it was the last minute, he had just sprinted back 75 yards to tackle an opponent back in defence, and he won a goal kick. He returned to the centre circle but was knackered cos of the sprint and the end of the game, and was bent over double. Pearson wanted him to sprint upfield again to follow the ball, but he just couldn't. Whistle went but Pearson gave him grief cos the team lost. I htink he has learnt to put in the effort since he was with Moyes. To me, his game has gone up a notch.
Hey Josh, you ever thought of going into politics? With selective memory like you've got, you'd be a superstar! Or is that a tit?
i have watched him twice at Leicester against Brum and against Reading I think it was he showed little or no desireI stand by what I said
you could not get to the premiership with beckford last time so why would he get you up now, he wont go back to DIRTY leeds anyway it would be a backward step for him...
