There was a time when I too rated Heskey and I have never been a Heskey hater. When he was in his late 20's he was one of the best centre forwards in the game and I'd love to find a 25 or 26 year old Emile Heskey now. My point was made using Heskey that he had no pace but Mon has been one of his most ardent admirers over the years, so Kuyt not being Usain Bolt wasn't an issue at all.
to reverse a well used phrase, if Kuyt were available, I would jump in the car and bring him here for talks myself
The lad is a full current Dutch international, has played Champions League and UEFA Cup football, has over 200 games for Liverpool and played in 3 major (4 this summer) international tournaments. He will only be 32 years of age at the start of the 2012/13 season and has a good 2 or 3 years in him imo. I'd happily bid £6m for him today. He would be a huge asset for a club like ours for the next 2 or 3 years.
To be fair, any club outside the top 4 shopuld be interested and I'm just amazed that a poor Liverpool team cant afford a place for him let alone think about selling him.
Noticed a few people disagree on there, think it's mainly Tash who agrees, personally I think he's not the type of player you guys need, as if he did come it would be instead of Sessegnon, McClean or Larsson.
todays Telegraph sat 7th. Liverpool prepared to take a hit on sale of Dirk Kuyt as club try to trim their wage bill Dutch international Dirk Kuyt will cost just £1 million if Liverpool sell him this summer. 38 Comments The surprisingly cut-price sell-on clause, agreed when Kuyt signed a contract extension last season, will be triggered if the striker is allowed to move to an overseas club. Liverpool’s willingness to let the 31 year-old move on for such a nominal fee underlines the determination of manager Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli to impose a ‘lower age, lower wage’ transfer policy this summer. For a player who was signed for £11 million — and who will be a key figure in Holland’s Euro 2012 squad — to be given the chance to leave for a bargain price is a shock, even if he has passed 30. Although Kuyt is aware his position at the club is under threat, his agent, Rob Jansen, said he could see out the final year of his deal if there is no attractive alternative. “He would like to remain at Liverpool,” said Jansen. “But otherwise it’s very likely that he will choose to go on a new adventure abroad. If he ever returned to the Netherlands, he would 100 per cent go to Feyenoord. I have not been told anything official. A few days ago I went to Liverpool to talk about Kuyt among others.” Related Articles It is Kuyt’s age and salary— he earns £3.5-£4 million a year — which is determining his availability. With an extra £1 million from his transfer, that would provide more revenue for a younger replacement on decreased terms. Meanwhile, the Kop will get its first glimpse of back-up keeper Alexander Doni againstAston Villa on Saturdayas Pepe Reina begins his three-match ban for violent conduct. Dalglish says he has faith in the Brazilian but admits his lack of game time is a concern. “His attitude has been brilliant, but he has only been playing pre-season games,” said Dalglish. “Doni hasn’t had any reserve team action, so we don’t know how he is. “He has done as much as he can to try and be ready, but it won’t be easy for him because you have got to get an understanding with your team-mates, and it’s hard to do that without playing. “The only way we can get round that now is by him playing and getting that understanding. Pepe wanted to play every game, but now he’s got his chance, and he will have to be ready to step in. He played in Serie A so I’d say he was quietly confident.” Defender Daniel Agger has returned to training as he step up his fitness ahead of next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final.
Love his attitude but do not rate him at all. Effort's sublime but his natural talent is woeful. My opinion anyway. Mind, id have him over bentdner if they were similar deals.
have to agree with this, his lack of pace is the main reason I would say no. I think in a counter attacking team you esp. need your forward players quick and direct and Kuyt aint, his wages would probably be way higher than anyones at the club anyway
I think Kyut is a great player but he is not for us. MON likes 3 quick players 2 wingers and a forward. He also likes a big target man too. I would rather see us sign Grant Holt than Kyut. He is bigger stronger and scores more goals, he is also originally from the NE, being from Carlisle. He would also cost less in wages. Flecture from Wolves is the other one I would look at as a goal scorer. Then look for a quick winger, AJ would be my first choice but Jarvis from Wolves would also be worth alook as well as Zaha. MON generally buys British players or players who have lots of EPL experience. The above would fit his buying trends.
