Reading v Leeds 14:00 Barnsley v West Ham 17:15 Two games which we are interested in today, and neither of our teams have very much form. Leeds go from well drilled defensive display one week to Sunday League the next, and Barnsley have 4 points from the last 27. Difficult to see us being anything other than in 2nd place, 3 points clear of 3rd by tonight. Anyone think different?
Switch Reading and West Ham games around, and I could certainly see WH slipping up against Leeds. But there's no way on earth that they'll fail to beat Barnsley - a team who've been on their summer holidays for at least a month now. And with Reading's phenominal form, I think they'll have enough to overcome Leeds. I'm expecting both to win, and so, as I've said on the match thread, I'd be content to see WH win and Reading draw.
McDermott wins manager of the month again so there is hope that the curse will work a little better then it did last month (SKD missed out to McCleary too)
It will still worked enough to slow them down though. From memory, they went from a 100% record in March, to drawing Donny and losing to Posh in April. For Reading's March standards, they were both poor results. But yes, it would be nice if the curse really hit them hard this time. A bit like Mowbray and Boro, who quickly got over their first curse, only for it to then return for a second time - and two or three months later, they're still struggling to rid themselves of it.
If Reading loose one, and draw one in April then I will be fairly pleased (especially if the loss is against us). The thing that frightens me about Reading at the moment, is even when they went on their winning run before they were winning by just the 1 goal more often then not. Now they seem to be scoring for fun and don't seem as reliant on Roberts. They appear unflappable...and remind me of us at the start of the season. That said so long as we keep winning...
Couldn't find an active thread for this so may as well start this... Reading going top? Never a Red IMO, one footed, yellow card all day long.
Didn't think it was a red tbh, one footed...studs weren't really showing, right in the corner. Yellow for me...
It wasn't a dangerous tackle though! Reading players and fans got him sent off, rolled around like he'd been shot then up as soon as card shown. Just a matter of time now it seems.
A Leeds player just got away with a red card because one had already been given. Be amazed if all the players on the pitch finish.
That was a worse tackle...at least if Leeds go down in defeat today they'll take a few reading players with them
Don't think you can go in on a keeper like that when he got two hands to the ball. I know that will be discussed ad nauseum, but most refs would blow up for that.
