Does anyone pay ã40 a year to see the videos on the wycombe website. It seems like a stupidly high price to pay, especially seeing as most of the match highlights can be seen on the bbc website. Surely it would be better to give it away for free and advertise on it instead. What do you guys think?
i guess its value for money overall because you get the interviews with the players and the management as well throughout the season and you dont get that anywhere else
you also get the live commentary which I like cos I don't get to any away matches. The video highlights are much longer than you get on the BBC website too
I just feel a bit aggrieved that i already pay for a season ticket, then would also have to pay another ã40. If they gave it out for free and sponsored it, they could probably make more money out of it, and also make it more accessible.
I've come really close to signing up for it on numerous occasions - and I don't really get to any games now so in theory it would be a good link. But I always come back to the same conclusion - that ã40 is too much. I would say that advertising instead would be a good idea, but looking at the ads that appear on the official site anyway, they're exploiting that as much as they can already. I rely on this site and BBC and Sky websites to get the information I need and am quite happy with that. I'd do it if it was ã20. Maybe I've lived in Scotland for too long and becoming a native )
We used to get a full commentary on all the away matches on one radio station (I think it used to be broadcast from above the George in Great Missenden (that's cropping up a few times lately). Alan Hutchinson used to be one of the commentators (I knew him as a young lad). That's why I'm opposed to paying for that. I would rather be able to choose specific videos of great games (eg Wimbledon, PNE, Corinthian Casuals). I suppose it's all a matter of priorities. All my money disappears on horses, taxes and utility bills and living - in that order. So a ã1 a week for highlights seems a bit steep and I can't justify it to myself. On the other hand they need to make money so good luck to them. I suppose if I were living on my own with just a cat and a dog (or two) I would happily part with ã40 pa.
ã40 is a bloody so for away matches I stick to BBC live updates which are average and sometimes sky sports news on the tv :| Seeing as all clubs from premieship to league 2 have a similar video service which costs supporters I doubt we will ever get it for free with adverts
If any of you are on Facebook this is a good link to follow on Matchdays, updates are quicker than BBC and more interesting too. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wycombe-Wanderers-Advertiser/363278218324
ron i remember that ,it was only away games that they commentated on ,wasnt it 1170 the radio station was called or something like that ,and they were based in totteridge just behind the iron duke pub
I thought it was 11 something and 1170 rings a bell. I thought it was GM but wasn't sure, I think something was broadcast from GM. Isn't the Iron Duke near the station (East side)?
iron duke is on totteridge road on the left hand side just before wilkinson sword if you know where that is.
Cheers Rocky, I would have missed that. Iron Duke. On the corner of Duke Street and Totteridge Road? Never been in it but walked past it on many occasions as I had a girl friend (who became my first wife) living in Hillary Road. I believe there was a murder there.
I pay ã3.99 a month for Chairboys Player and it is quite useful to have for reasons mentioned above. Strangley, I wouldn't pay a ã40 one off fee for it but I don't mind paying a small amount a month for it! Mates can also use my login for other Football League clubs to view videos their own websites. The match day updates on Facebook (and Twitter) that Jock mentions are very good. I always use them for info on the game when I'm not there as it gives you plenty more details and a feel for how the game is going than Soccer Saturday and the BBC website. I used to listen to the 1170 radio commentary too. I'm sure Andy Kerr used to be a presenter on there? You're right about the murder at the Iron Duke Ron, if I remember rightly I think someone shot his stepdaughter who was working behind the bar at the time. Is the pub still there? I thought it closed down.
Yeah it closed down, the owner is now running the Bird in Hand on WW Road and all his regulars followed. I remember listening to 1170 when we played Man City at Maine Road and somehow manged to win!!!
I don't remember us beating Man City. That's worrying. When was it and what competition and what league were Man C in then. I hope a section of my life hasn't gone missing.
