Not a very good argument. Germany were very strong in the last world cup as were Holland and Argentina.

They have great attacking players like Silva, Pedro, Mata, Villa and Negredo who are supported by that fabulous midfield.

Germany don't even come close to Spain in terms of quality.

Argh, I always get annoyed when the England team is dismissed. Man for man we have some superb players, maybe not the best in the world but some real talents for sure. Our problem for years has been an appalling attitude to the game, both in team work and respect for other nations. There's no reason why we can't upset a number of countries, and I don't just mean by getting pissed up and throwing white plastic furniture around.

Think the French squad is strong throughout, as are the Germans. The Dutch have a frightening front line up but, imo, not the best back four. Sadly, like most, I can't see beyond the Spanish. No Messi? Boo-hoo, chuck Fabregas in there instead. Not a bad back-up!

Not a chance you wouldnt play schwentiger. He is one of the best in the world. Underrated because he plays in germany but would be first name on my team sheet as germany boss.

    He is sooooooo good.

VDV would get in the side. He is class but they prefer kuyt to add some balance and work rate to the side.

But this is the attitude to england that gets us in so much trouble. We have good players - true. But so do other teams.

People think the future is bright with young players like oxo, wilshire, sturridge and smalling. But what we dont realise is that germany have 10 times the number of hot prospects we have. We see someone like wilshire and think wow he is amazing. True he is. But you wont of heard of germany's 10 jack wilshires. Like ozil....only people who watch any german football knew this lad was going to be a major force in football...in england germany having ozil wouldnt of entered into the consideration of any fans on this forum in a england vs germany comparison. Same with muller and khedera.

I dont think guardiola was being rude when he said they had players like wilshire in their reserves. I bet it was true. England are so far behind it is frightening. I doubt england would beat a team of players born in barcelona. It is the lack of depth which is particularly worrying. I mean our strike options are basically rooney and if not him then darren bent, bobby zamora, jermanine defoe and andy carrol. Even in the premier league everybody knows they suck. Same with wide areas. Downing and young could start for england! Downing probably wouldnt get in germanys under 18 side.

You can't really say that and then do a Germany team with Badstuber on the right, Gotze over Kroos/Schweinsteiger and Podolski over Schurrle. Plus Malouda's crap.

That is the point. People only know bayern and dortmound players so just put them in. They dont know about the other top players in these countries.

Same in spain. Look how bilboa shocked everyone vs united. Nobody would of thought of those for the spainish squad this year or in the world cup.

Kuyt seems to start a lot for Holland every time I watch them. He also started most of the games in the world cup. Holland's coach really likes to have Kuyt in the side.

Englands potential lineup isn't all that bad

    ----------------Hart------------
    Johnson--Lescott--Jagielka--Cole
    --------------Parker------------
    -------OXO----------Wilshere---
    Walcott----------------Sturridge
    ---------Wellbeck/Rooney-------

The youth of England will be our saving grace.. Too many of the veterans have too big of an ego to play properly for the national side, its why they fail so often.

To be fair, my knowledge of German football is borrowed. A friend of a friend lives and works in Germany, he came back to the UK in December and amongst the fractured memories of beer and being taught German football songs I remember he seemed to think Schurrle was the one to watch for the Euros. I asked him about Gotze and he didn't seem to think he'd play much unless Ozil broke both legs in the first game.

That's debateable. Goetze has more assists than any other player in the Bundesliga and Ozil has been the key playmaker (ahead of even Kaka) for Real Madrid.

I suppose they could play Schwensteiger on the right instead of Muller but it just goes to show how strong they are. Some of the youngsters like Reus and Kroos look very exciting also.

    You're spot on.
The coach seems to avoid playing Gotze and Ozil together because he sees Gotze as a playmaker just as Ozil. Could be the German 'Gerrard v Lampard' problem. Loew wants dangerous players on the wings and not playmakers, which is why Gotze won't play on the flanks either. Muller and Podolski seem first choice, with Reus and Schurrle as back up.

And first-choice up front is Klose (when fit) and NOT Gomez. Gomez might be scoring for fun domestically, but in a German shirt his perfomances are pretty poor.

    ----------------------Neuer--------------------
    ---Boateng---Hummels---Badstuber----Lahm----
    --------Schweinsteiger---Kroos/Khedira---------
    --------Muller--------Ozil-----Podolski----------
    -------------------Klose-----------------------

This is what I'd see as the most likely team for Germany.

I see Germany right behind Spain, but I have no idea how they will cope with the expectations because 2010 World Cup was completely different as they had many injuries (No.1 keeper Adler or captain Ballack) and the players who played the majority of the qualifiers were in poor form and were dropped. This resulted in a quite inexperienced team on the pitch.

I like Holland's attack, they even have someone like Huntelaar behind van Persie.
    Their defence is mediocre though.

The French look good ever since Blanc took over and I can see them doing well.
    Same goes for Italy.

England is a bit difficult to rate. Still no proper manager and there seems to be no clear formation at all.
And Rooney will still be out for his stupid/******ed red card.

England would do well if they would take an Arsenal player or two.
At the World Cup there were 5(?) Spurs players and none from the best North London team and Capello got punished for that ;)

I think Walcott should be certain to start and the OXO should definitely be part of the squad.
I don't think that Wilshere will be fit in time to be a big help for England.

Good points <ok> I think Gomez will be given the warm up games to prove himself as the first choice though.

    Our best team would be:

    --------------Hart--------------
    Richards--Lescott--Jagielka--Cole
    -------------Parker-------------
    -----Gerrard-------Wilshere-----
    Walcott-------------------Young
    ------------Rooney-------------

Milner in for Wilshere if he's not fit.

If Germany win the Euros the price of Goetze is going to go astronomical

    Better!

Cabaye is a regular for the French first-team and Ben Arfa should be a shoe-in back into the side if he keeps his current form up. He's pissing over anything Nasri is doing at the mo.

Er, Spain don't have Messi in their team. Which shows just how good you are at posting on here.

Not a chance the Germans would start without Mario Gomez. The guy gets 30 plus goals every Season.
