http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17612075 "The Scottish Premier League will not present Celtic with the title trophy at the next Old Firm match, even if they have been confirmed as champions." "Normal protocol would be to present the trophy at the winners' next home game." So why would it not happen this time around -anyone know the reasoning behind this (or do they just normally wait until closer to the last game of the season)?
BFM -If that's the reason, maybe Celtic won't be presented with the trophy at all as the mob might not like it?
Nah, the SFA just won't allow presentations before Old Firm games for either team full stop. They try their best to schedule the games for the least contentious times possible so I don't see them ever allowing this for either side if they can help it. Them's the breaks. It would be a fantastic GIRFUY but, sadly, it could push some psycho over the edge - if it helps, they would try to avoid Rangers getting a trophy at Ibrox before playing us, too (thank **** that won't happen for a long time).
Ah -fair enough then - thanks! The BBC article falls far short of an explanation - typical dumbing down of news reports these days!
I was waiting on this which is why I was trying to be fair after posting the Manchester pics. I was at the game in 99. We lost to a team of cheaters owned by a cripple conman who were being paid under the table and aided by a proven bully who was sacked for bigotry. A load of blue types tried to jump me coming out of the ground. I remember it well
Are we even getting investigated for 1999, is it not from 2001 onwards? If so, you calling Rangers cheats amounts to defamation and I am going to tell on you.
The problem in Scotland is that the SPL reflects the views of the h.ns. As far as the SPL are concerned the longer they hold off presenting the trophy to Celtic the better. Just another example of the bad taste and bitterness we are subjected to.
I can see no reason why the trophy cannot be presented after the game against the team in administration as the SPL will be won long before that game which will really only be an end of season fixture that has to be fulfilled. Most if not all of the obnoxious Rangers fans would have gone home by then. I am quite sure the SPL would prefer not to have to present their trophy to Celtic at any time.
