Scans have confirmed he's knackered his anterior cruciate ligament and he's seeing an orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow.
Transfer kitty is now vital. That is the one aspect of this season that's been something to smile about - the defence.
The problem with getting Gerrard (and it's a moot point anyway as we won't be getting Gerrard) is that his wages would seriously diminish any "warchest" (LOL!) we might have to buy/pay wages of a striker. With Cooper and Bradley pushing for a regular place and with our lack of finance, I cannot see us even trying to sign our former player of the year (unfortunately).
I think we'll probably just go for a loanee defender. I have my doubts that we'll see Hobbs again this year.
Step forward Sonny Bradley!! Bet he'll have "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!" plastered all over twitter by the end of the day!
Gutted for him. Been a rock at the back and grown into the captain role. I'm actually properly gutted about this. He's the kind of player you want. Quality at the back, great captain and without doubt a 100% pro who gives everything. Will be missed.
Not wishing to come across as cynical but a positive may come out of this. Hobbs comes across as a genuinely decent bloke. If the club see him through a lengthy rehab he may feel he owes the club. I'm not saying he was looking to leave in the near future anyway but this might strengthen the bond between JH and the club. Just saying like.
I am sure they will see how Bradley and Cooper fair until the end of the season, and what finally happens with Chester in the close season before they will consider Gerrard.
It could be already sorted for the summer. At least Gerrard(being a free transfer) wont eat into whatever the transfer kitty is.!!!! A tragedy for Jack who has been outstanding this season. Get well soon Jack. The tweets i read the other day on this matter were for a change correct. He is young and hopefully will heal quicker than someone older and hopefully will be back sometime in september ? fingers crossed.!!!
I would have been very surprised to see Chester go in the summer anyway John. I would suggest that Jacks injury will simply end that remote possibility now. Oh Steve Jordan how you must now be recoiling in your chair after telling us in the Premier Members Club night the other week how well we were doing for injuries ? Koren, Dudgeon, Chester and now Jack Hobbs. Maybe best to keep q.t. in future.
If Premier is right and his knee needs reconstructing I agree with him that Jack will be out until Christmas. Hope that's wrong, and wish Jack a speedy recovery
if true thats more than 6-8 months. looks like that nice doctor in colorado will be getting more business from us. a nice place to convaless and take a holiday afterwards. he got ian ashbee playing again and he was much older. the only good thing is Jacks young age. he will be back.
No, I still think Chester will be playing Premier League football next season. Hobbs injury will have nothing to do with it, I'm sure some of the Premier clubs scouting him will be happy to dip into their Premier League cash filled pockets to secure a player like Chester. If it gives us a fund to strengthen, then I'm sure if the offer comes, it will be accepted.
Best of luck in your recovery Jack, good excuse to put your feet up and watch the Euro's and the Olympics. Unfortunate injury, but that tackle is one of the best recovery tackles I've ever seen. It must have been75% in favour of the striker scoring, bionic legs Hobbs still got a tackle in and won the ball, immense.
100% agree. Thats why this 6-8 months quote is a touch confusing. Then again who on here is upto date with current medicine ? i know i'm not, so my fingers are crossed for a speedy recovery and return......whenever that maybe.
