http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2124734/Jermaine-Beckford-future-Leicester-doubt.html#ixzz1r1BRnhai It seems to me Jermaine Beckford has never been settled since he left Leeds United in pursuit of the Premiership Dream at Everton or the Mercenaries Salary at Leicester City. Time to come home JB, go where your heart says and not your wallet.
Like to see him back. Got pace which we lack upfront. Warnock might get the best out of him....or fallout with him due to his attitude in a matter of days
I'd only have him back if he begged us on his knees, and only then if he accepted squad wages. He thought he was bigger than the mighty Leeds. He has now proved that he wasn't, in everyone's mind apart from his own, probably. I've never accepted the kudos he was afforded. Yes, he's quick, & he scores goals. But that's about it. He's a one trick pony that needs balls over the top (might suit NM hoofball, right enough). He can't dribble, pass, head or run at someone, and he's a lazy bastard. Most of his goals have come when they're not needed. Important goals were very occasional, and only when he was in the mood. Finally, he's always had an attitude problem, which clearly hasn't endeared him to his managers, and probably caused squad unrest into the bargain. There MUST be another alternative. We would be buying trouble.
Pearson falls out with yet another player. For such a boring bastard, he's got a hell of a tendency for these puerile bust-ups with players, hasn't he? Suppose that's what you get when you buy prima donnas - and yes, as much as we like him, Beckford is a prima donna - for insane money. We've already got a practical replica of Beckford anyway. His name's Dave Somma. McCormack and Becchio aren't doing bad either. One more striker to push them and I think we'll be alright, but it needs to be someone with strength and resilience, not a Beckford who will refuse to challenge for headers and such like. Pace is more important on the wing - we still haven't properly replaced Gradel, and Aidy White can't continue in his role as an attacker if he renews his contract/isn't sold, surely?
Somma cant be compared to beckford...apart from the bottling headers bit, neither of them, for big lads, like a header!
Of course they can be compared. Both greedy in their playing style, anonymous in vast portions of games until other players involve them, excellent instinctive finishers, can score from inside and outside the box, very unpredictable in the manner they shoot. Beckford has more pace, but the comparison is very valid. They both contribute and fail to contribute the same things. Either way, another of those isn't what we need at the moment in the striker department.
I've always felt Somma has been massively overrated on this site. Beckford is a much much better player than Somma IMO. Don't get me wrong, I like Somma and he is worth having at this level but he is not key to our team
Alreet ya Chav. aint had much time to get on here and insult you Bermondsey twats, have i missed anything?
Bet that hurt Mick nah not much mate, usual midweek thing and dead on our board so been on your board today and saints board yesterday How's you geezer
I'm alright mate, be glad when this job we're on finishes and we get one nearer home, its doing my head in not commiserating with you guys everytime you lose, tried to log in on my phone but it takes ****ing ages. btw Steve, last week when i was taking the piss about your job, you don't work there do you?
Lose when do we ever lose It takes forever to log on with my blackberry mate so I just get the ****ing hump with it You mean McD's? Nah mate I work at the London Met Uni on Holloway road in Islamic North London
I don't think Somma has got an extended run at Leeds yet to show what he can really do. Beckford had his chance and I agree that, for the most part, other than Jan 3 and Bristol Rovers he did not deliver when needed.
Are you serious? Did not deliver Its not like he scored 85 goals for us in League 1 and 20+ goals a season for 3 years in a row or 30+ goals for us for 2 years in a row. That guy is a legend in my book. Its just stupid how people forget what players did as soon as they leave
I was critical of him when he was with us. I don't dispute he scored plenty of goals, some quite spectacular but in my opinion, is that ok with you that I have one, he did not deliver when we needed someone to step up. He still was treated very poorly when it came to discussing a new contract.
Ofcourse its ok that you have an opinion, doesn't make it right though I dont think he was treated poorly, he wasn't offered the contract he deserved and I still don't think we have properly replaced him, our team was so much more balanced and we were able to rely on him more than we do our current strikers and for me, I like strikers that are ready to run off the last man. People seem to remember the bad things about him more than the good.
