I blame capello more than the players as he is the manager, the leader. Its like Grant at WHU....pointless him being there. He brings nothing to the team at all. 6 million for what? A spectator.

I think fans and players alike care more about the club football. I would be honoured to play for England, really ****ing honoured, but the players don't see it that way as they get more plaudits playing for their club, which is the problem. Rooney is known for Man Utd, not England, Terry = Chelsea, not England captain.

nothing will stop until we start picking the best players for England and not just reputation who licks the fa's arse ect ect.
We also need an extreme discipline injection into the way our football is governed and the players who represent this

I dont mean to sound like a miserable england hating ****. Quite the opposite infact. I love this country and i am proud of my country.

All I ask from the england team is for them to show the same passion.

And yes, this culture of picking players based on name is a disgrace. I am a United fan but rooney should of been dropped after the world cup. terry should not be captain, Gerrard.....maybe just did enough to warrent a potential selection.

But no, Capello changes very little. I accept he doesnt have the passion like an english man would but for god sake man, grow a ****ing pair and make so bold changes.

Look at germany. They made major changes and look at them. Thats what england need.

  6. That's we need players like Joey Barton in the team mate. I understand why most people hate him, because they're arrogant and can't understand he's changed and just judge him on his past.
Then they spout ****e about players needing to be role models when i mention Joey Barton, but they forget half of the England team have committed adultery and shagged a bunch of slags.

Wayne Rooney, our best and most famous player, shagged prositutes whilst his wife was pregnant with his kid. That's a good role model?

Joey Barton has been far better than Lampard, Gerrard and most of the England team this season. Barton is passionate, committed and in ****ing form!!!

Why isn';t he playing for England!?!!?!

The same would apply to Scott Parker, hes not as disliked as Barton but just like Barton hes full of the right stuff when it comes to england. Players who play because it is an honour not because its an obligation.

I can see us at this rate becomeing a scotland or a wales.....everyone remembers WC98 and scotland. Look at them now, most of the players selected just happen to find an excuse not to play or just come out and say nah....dont want to.

    We dont want that.

I think Lampard is a little better than Barton, But I would put Barton in the team ahead of Gerrard, But don't know if he would start because we now have Wilshere who is excellent.

  9. Barton should still get on the bench, Capello is going back on his word about picking players in form. Barton should walk into the squad.

dont know if its just me but i quite like this england lineup id only make a couple like for like changes , drop johnson , dont think hes good enough defensively simo or richards in there instead, and just personally rio>terry for me, although his experience is prob a plus lampard got to go he just doesnt do enough , i think barton wilshere parker is a v good midfield , with rooney young then bent/carroll up top depending on who we're playing

Capello is a man not to be trusted.

He needs to go, the sooner he does the sooner things can change.

He is, just like he went back on his word about John Terry not being captain again. He says things but doesn't follow them through, he should be picking players on form rather than reputation.

agree 100% Germany pick the players showing talent as well as potential if played in the right team with the right mould ect and it works for them because their manager is not afraid to be a manager essentially thats what we are lacking.
Capello got the job based on his authortative aura, but he lost this very quickly once the prima donnas started taking the piss out of him. Even after this he still picks the ones that have been the problem for years (Wilshere is the exception here aswell as todays selection slightly) this is why we will not come close to doing anything at tournaments until the 'golden generation' retire

Since moving to Northern Ireland I've come to the conclusion that I'm proud to be English, but none (or at least very few) of the ****s in white represent the England that I recognise!

It's like people say to me over here, we hate the English, but you're not English, you're a Geordie...Can't help but agree with them to be honest!

No passion, desire or pride left in our national set up, the sooner the sun sets on the current crop/crock (you decide) the better!

The people that gave the job to Crapello should go too. He should never have been given it. Cold, passionless, boring, ignorant pain in the arris.

I think very few people believed when this thread started that it might turn into one of the most lucid and intellectually challenging fora for a scintillating and wide-ranging debate on cross-border cultural issues!
