For me some of these QF results have been manipulated by the officials. The Barca game with woefully biased refereeing in the second leg at the Nou Camp now this. Pereira may have been stupid to go into that challenge for his second yellow, but how many times do players like Torres or Terry get yellow cards for gobbing off at the referee even though they do it nearly every game!?

Can't help but feel the CL is geared towards getting the biggest teams in the latter stages so the viewing figures go up and they milk it for all its worth money wise.

I don't honestly believe refs are bent, but it does look mighty suspicious when stuff like that happens. Could've said the same in 2009 too, when the ref denied all those penalty shouts for Chelsea to conveniently let the bigger club get to the final. Ok, a fair few of the shouts were ridiculous dives, and Chelsea didn't do themselves much help by Benny Hilling the ref all over the pitch, but it still looked dodgy as hell...

 

I'm just pleased it's us they refer to, we being their absolute benchmark for everything they attempt. No one else matters.

Nope, I want them to win it too. Actually I'd probably rather Benfica win it so we can say we were knocked out by the winners, but if they can't win it then Chelsea would be second choice.

Benfica have equalised with 10 men, so my dream may yet come true...

 

No, not bent, just their obviously making decisions subconsciously that are biased the bigger team. Imagine if Benfica nicked it now though, would be brilliant...

Can't believe Chelsea have got to the semis of the CL playing two teams Liverpool beat (one in Benitez's worst season, and the other when managed by Hodgson) in the Europa League. Neither are better team than when we played them. Benfica are arguably weaker without Coentrao, Di Maria and Luiz.
Mind you, they've got Barca next...

I'm not sure what your own stance is on Benitez Page but leaving that aside, I remember during the 606 times having a long running ding dong with one of your lot, Liverbirdmate in case anyone remember him, in which he absolved Benitez of ALL guilt in the Aquilani saga and suggested that wasing the best part of £20 million on a player who was know to be perpetually injured was in some way ok.
