The Academy beat Charlton 2-1 away from home today to go within 1pt of Arsenal at the top of the Group A table. But they have a game in hand with only two to play; against Reading and Norwich. By all accounts Charlton had the best of the first half this afternoon and went 1-0 up shortly after half time. A penalty gave our youngsters the impetus to go on and win - Della Verde getting the winner. Bit of a struggle towards the end though with the team playing the last 15 minutes with only 10 men - all 3 subs already having been used - but they held on. The starting team was - Smith; Brister, Arthurworrey, O'Reilly, Kavanagh; Williams, Minkwitz (c), Christensen, Della Verde; Altman; Woodrow Subs - Banya, Sambou, Tankovic, Gameiro and Bettache Fantastic win - well done Kit and the lads.
I note that there's no Burn in that squad. Is he injured, or not panning out? In fact, C58, is there any chance of a brief run-down of some of those players. I recognise some of the names (e.g. LDV, Woodrow) but a lot of those players I know nothing of!
Here is the Club report - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/April/TitleInSight.aspx And the Charlton one - http://www.cafc.co.uk/page/academydetail/0,,10267~2722714,00.html PS It is a bit murky, but Burn is a firm fixture in the reserves. Rumour has it that Middlesborough had a scout watching him in the last couple of games.
Yes, Burn played alongside Briggs for the development squad (aka the reserves, Bidley, it's the same thing, just that the club gives the reserves a fancy name these days).
