I know when i look at the team, I see all the weaknesses now and think its over. But christ when you look at the run in we have, its there for us. First thing Nick get your boots back on- 20 mins tops its all you need. Get Garcia either up front or RM. Go 4-4-2. Play TC CM and get him to start dinking a few balls in behind them, lets turn these defences round we never get in behind. Drop Stewart. Mannone Rosy Bradley Cooper Daws Garcia Evans TC Brady Mclean/King Fryatt **** or bust nothing to lose. Brighton are away at Burnley Friday night then Reading Tuesday. Blackpool away at Watford then Barnsley. Boro have us and Cardiff Cardiff have Boro and Watford. Us Millwall then Middlesboro. We could be running out on Saturday with a chance of closing the gap to two points. It can be done!! UTT
Disagree with the team but its good to see others being positive Its a shame Nick wont play again cos with Koren out Id like to see him slot in the hole
Love your blind optimism Clearly we are one of the worst teams in the division form wise, loosing 4 on the bounce, one yes one win in the last 11 games, and being beat two games in succession by two of the worst teams in the league! And you think we can get in the playoffs LMAO
Ruddy heck Chazz. Is that you or an imposter i wonder.? Never seen you being so positive for a change. For all my positivity I simply think that its an awful ask for Messrs Cooper and Bradley to do a Hobbs and Chester. Your team makes sense except for TC. McKenna has to be there alongside Evans. Like you say nowt to lose now is there and the best form of defence is attack. Hull City are now at the last chance saloon this easter time. Thats both positive and realistic i feel under the current situation.
Tickler very few people on here are negative, its called being realistic. The wheels were coming off before Southampton. If Tc had played the way Mckenna has played the last 6 games they would have been burning effigies of him, he has been dreadful. We have no drive from the centre because Mckenna is 20 yards behind play.
I too love your optimism but feel to win at Millwall with Cooper and Bradley as the CB pairing is asking an awful lot.. Don't like to mention Warnocks name on this board but have to agree with him that he wished the season was over now and he could get on with recruiting for next season. I do agree also that its strange Richard Garcia has been seemingly discarded - I know he had an awful game by his own admission against Crawley in the Cup, but so then did lots of others.. his experience and ability to hold up play would have been useful if only from the bench..
After the Crystal Palace game, IMO, we were well on track for the play-offs. Even after losing to the Saints i did not feel that worried. For me the turning points and wheels coming off were the Lesta game. First 15mins we scored and outplayed them and then conceeded 2 goals in as many minutes from plays that were both sloppy and poor. From that 2nd goal we have been dire I agree. Pompey was a game far to far anyway and should never have been arranged for that date. Without the Pompey game we would have beaten Coventry IMO and thats the period for me that has sadly almost killed our season. But as you say, its sh it or bust now. Nowt to loose at all by going for it. At least whatever happens we have 2 Hull Lads in the back 4 and without any real pressure we can see what they have. Interesting to see that Darius Henderson was dropped to the bench last week for Millwalls game @ Cardiff. I wonder if he will be back for saturday ? Hope he is as it will be a big but good test for the lads. Both Rosie and Daws can play a massive part and Cooper has played against better than he will on saturday and done well. I shall be there to see what happens.
We're in a bad patch, but come 3pm Saturday we have to treat it as a clean slate if you will and go for 3 points at The Den. Forget about what's gone recently and go in with some positivity, we'd hate to see the players treat a game with a side in the same league in such a way, so we as supporters should follow suit. I'm not expecting miracles and a 5-0 victory on Saturday, but there's no point dwelling on the last couple of defeats and we have to go to Millwall in a positive frame of mind. For the record I don't think we'll finish in the top 6, but I'd like us to see us end the season with our heads held high.
Tickler we have only won 4 games since January 1st. We've just been in denial really that and the fact the Championship isnt a great league its ****e and full of mediocre teams. But we are still in with a chance.
Yes exactly my point. Due to our rivals also dropping points the lack of wins was not an issue at that point as city were still in it.. Put it this way. A point at Lesta and 2 wins in the last 2 games should have happened under normal circumstances. Thats 7pts and would have us 5th on 65pts. But its gone and we have nothing to loose anymore. Do or die fighting is all i ask now.
I would play Fryatt in the hole, and McClean up front. King on the left and Garcia on the right. Evans and McKenna more than ever need to be in front of Bradley and Cooper to assist in defensive duties. The instruction must be to pass the ball forward, only forward. Back passes will result in electric shock treatment in the dressing room at full time. Attack with gusto, be decisive, put a team mate in, if he's better placed to shoot/score. Easy.
I'm all for a bit of optimism and I hope our season doesn't fizzle to nothing as it will damage recruitment for next season, but over the last eight games, Barnsley are the only team in the league who've picked up less points than us. There's more chance of me getting off with Angelina Jolie in the Fox and Coney on Saturday night, than there is of us reaching the play-off's.
Watford (11th and rising) still have to play Blackpool (5th), Brighton (6th), Boro (7th), Cardiff (8th), you (9th), having just beaten L**ds (10th). On the one hand that's an incredibly tough run in, on the other it puts our fate in our own hands. Even if we are too far behind to snatch a top six spot, those matches will have a massive bearing on who does.
If you win them all fair play to you, but a few draws, apart from us we always beat you, and its in our hands.
Don't agree the division is sh*te - far from it - almost evry team has a few quality players (in our case Koren Chester Hobbs Rosy etc) - players that are the best of the rest from the English game that aren't in the PL. The NPC is a step or two ahead of Lg 1 albeit the likes of Norwich and Soton have been very successful since their promotions. After watching a decade of the sh*te in the Dolan days of the 90's, the NPC and the crowds that go with it, will do for me till we are in a position to mount a serious challenge again for promotion to the holy grail that is the Premier League.
