For any-one here who also follows 'leather on willow', what do you think of this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/17610592
I remember traveling to Bournemouth many moons ago to watch Richard Gilliat and team win the John Player league. But since they have spent so much money on the Rose Bowl, you would have thought business sense ment play all games there. Unless more support might be encouraged by playing the odd game else where
They do not need to worry too much anymore - the whole shambles at the Rosebowl is now being propped up with a bail out from Eastleigh Borough Council - or should I say the ratepayers of Eastleigh Borough Council
I thought that Ageas Insurance (the old Fortis Insurance) based at Eastleigh were sponsoring the Rosebowl this season, saintsalive ?
Devo, the recently constructed Newclose ground on the outskirts of Newport is superb, as you can see from the photo. Quite a few young cricket prospects have emerged from the I.O.W. in recent years - two or three joining Hampshire, like Danny Briggs, who has played for England. Hants playing a few matches at Newclose is a great idea - gives the Islanders the opportunity of watching top class cricket
