Not too sure about specific players at the moment but, on the desperately hopeful assumption that we keep all our key players, I'd like to see us bring in a LB, RB, CB, CM, winger and forward.

Amazing that the directors get 71% wage increase but we couldn't give the players anywhere near that

Makes the boycotting even more worthwhile, because now we know for sure it will have an effect.

No more home games to subsidize the awful East Stand. Join me!

Think there were 32 £1 shares that have a guaranteed worth of £125,000 each (£4mil overall). Wonder who got them? Must be Bates himself..hidden behind some offshore accounts of course

This weeks rant includes more of the usual. Hypocrisy, cheap shots at Grayson, bigging up spending **** all and going on about how it's right, praising Reading for their brilliant model of slowly building a team and saying it's the right way to do things (implying that it's the philosophy that we're taking - it's not). Jabs at the financial trouble other clubs are in, going on about how big our squad is, going on about how players think they're worth more than they are and agents are living in a dream world, that cheap players can outperform expensive ones (forgetting to mention this is an exception to the rule).

He even made it blatantly obvious that they're planning on selling players. He said "we're going to cut down on the size of our enormous squad and use our youth players more. We also have assets available, so if we sell any of those we'll have more money to spend in the summer". It's a ****ing disgrace.

He better mean getting rid of players surplace to requirements like Paynter, AOB, Kissa etc, not our prized assetts....

FAIR PLAY TO WARNOCK.........Neil Warnock will discuss his plans for the way forward with Leeds at a meeting with chairman Ken Bates next week. Boss Warnock is expected to offer his opinion on how much money the club is going to have to make available for team strengthening if they want to launch a serious promotion challenge. "It's better talking across a table rather than on a telephone," Warnock said. "He wants to know what I'm looking at. "I've already had a meeting with [chief executive] Shaun Harvey discussing what I think we'll need and then when the chairman's over we can have a chat about the club in general really." When asked about the possible size of his summer transfer kitty, Warnock said: "You've got to be realistic and a lot will depend on what I tell him I think we need. That's got to be behind closed doors really at this stage." Warnock added: "I know where I stand and I think the average Leeds supporter knows where I am. They've watched a lot more games than me. I read a couple of recent letters from supporters and thought 'you're not far wrong pal."'

Exactly. ATM we have alot of players of a similar, poor, standard. Id rather have say 20 better quality players + 5 or 6 kids, than 26 poorer players

    That's the key.

Problem is that we have to get rid of the deadwood that are on longer contracts. That's not easy, so we may be stuck with a number of them. Which is also why one year is not long enough.

Second problem is that Warnock will request players (can't see what Gwyn Williams' job is while Warnock is here), but Harvey and Bates do the negotiation. Any optimism that Warnock will get the players he actually wants is pie in the sky.

When Brighton visited Elland Road they had a squad of 31, ours is currently 28. Managers aren't going to get every decision right.
Some players are gambles e.g. Kisnorbo so you need adequate cover.
Some players you are stuck with from the past e.g. Bromby.
Some players are injured for the season e.g. Somma.
Alex Cairns, Tom Lees, Zac Thompson, Charlie taylor and Lewis Turner are all from the youth, leaving 23 more established. Plus Ben Parker is a youth failure so far and White was fairly inexperienced going into this campaign.

How small can we really afford a squad to be to get in quality players? My opinion is that our squad is perfectly normal for the championship and it is just a poor Bates excuse as to why better players are never signed.

Well, Bates and Warnock are having a face to face meeting next week to discuss the way forward. I'd pay good money to be a fly on the wall

The way he said it, it sounded like he wanted to sell our best players to give Warnock funds to bring in new players. He used the terms "valuable assets" and "funds for new players", so I doubt he means just getting rid of the deadwood. I am writing another scathing email to Mr Harvey complaining about all the things I am not happy with about the Yorkshire Radio interview.

I am currently going into significant depth about his quite frankly insulting insinuation that Leeds United's policy on building a squad is anywhere near similar to Reading's.

Should be an interesting discussion. Wouldn't mind being a fly on that wall. Some players this weekend having read that will definitely know they're playing for their Elland Road future. The game doesn't matter on Friday, save a bit of pride from the season. With that in mind, will Warnock give the likes of Paynter, Bromby et al one final chance to show why they shoud=ld be retained for next season?
