Decent showing, no injuries or sendings off, I'll be happy. All the teams have a crowded programme now, all in the same boat.
How damaging could this weekend be? ... Sing Brothers: Jesus Christ, Fanny Brice, Wolfie Mozart and Humphrey Bogart and Genghis Khan and On to H. G. Wells. Ho Chi Minh, Gunga Din Henry Luce and John Wilkes Booth And Alexanders King and Graham Bell. Rama Krishna, Mama Whistler, Patrice Lumumba and Russ Colombo, Karl and Chico Marx, Albert Camus. E. A. Poe, Henri Rousseau, Sholom Aleichem and Caryl Chessman, Alan Freed and Buster Keaton too And each one there Has one thing shared: They have sweated beneath the same sun, Looked up in wonder at the same moon, And wept when it was all done For bein' done too soon, For bein' done too soon. For bein' done.
Spot on. However even a thumping is less important I think than the way in which we play. We won't shut them out for 90 minutes. So no point setting our stall out for a draw. I think we will take geat heart from the occasion if we go out to win the game. If we score one or two and leave United thinking they've been in a real game it won't matter if we lose heavily. Nobody realistically expects us to get anything from this game. The key is scoring. The message that gives our players is that they can score against the best. Sparky should be able to drive home the message that just because United scored more than we did does not mena that our remaining six opponents will as well.
Can't really believe one or two people are saying that we must win on Sunday!! I think we'll set up the same as we did against Arsenal and keep things as tight as possible. You never know in football....we may get something, but if we don't it won't be the result that relegates us. Not losing by too many is important for our goal difference however!! A good performance is essential whatever the result so that we can go into the midweek game against Swansea with confidence....now that IS one we really need to win!!
We have to get 10 men behind the ball but when we do get it, we will have to flood forward to ease the pressure and not just lump it back to them. Blackburn came close to getting a result, theres no reason why we couldnt.
Superior for now. Assume for the sake of argument we win the three "easy" games and lose by 3 or more to each of the big 4. Doesn't that put a big dent in your theory? Even with the extra point?
Having just discovered that work commitments will make it impossible for me to get to most of the rest of our games, I decided to try for a late ticket for Old Trafford, only to be told by the wife that we have a big family lunch set up for Sunday. In these circumstances I am planning an extremely damaging weekend for my liver.
Surely the key factor is that win lose or draw at OT that we put in the best performance that we can possibly achieve. Should we lose we do so in the knowledge that we gave our all. That will be the continued morale boost we need to maintain Think our 2 - 3 defeat at home to city. We need that kind of commitment now until the 90th minute at eastlands
I'm getting e- mails from the club saying there are 700 tickets left for OT, at £42 a go. Hour and a bit up the motorway for me, actually feeling guilty about not going....
I am on Easter Bunny duties at the local cracker factory ...once I get my resurrection papers through
Is it time to give DJ etc a run out against utd? Keep the forward line fresh for Swansea? (I agree with Col and others we can't risk losing like at Fulham so the best (!) defenders will have to play) . Having said that, Ian Holloway got fined for doing it last year, and they were unlucky to lose the game their 'reserves' played!
The main thing re Sunday is we give an account of ourselves ... Letting Man Utd have the ball will be suicide ... We need to take a game to them but this lot are like a team of terminators at OT ... We are only living in hope there fickle ones Focus on the Swans They are great
I mean with a superior goal difference, 36 will keep us up. But yes, it may well be inferior after 38 games but lets hope not,eh?!
Don't understand all this about the the performance being all that counts at OT ! F*kk, what we need now is points - seems to me we are nearly as likely to get them there as any place, you only have to look at our results this season to see this. In fact I'm more optimistic of points in Manchester twice, Chelsea and Spurs than I am in the other games. Whatever, we got go for every game now - we can't save ourselves for Swansea then not come out and play like we didn't at Sunderland, Blackburn etc.... Come on URRRRRRRRRR's
We will go up there and ' Athletico Bilbao ' their sorry asses. Ready yourselves for another surprise my Easter bunnies.
