We agreed to sign him from Chivas Guadalajara for £6 million pounds i think it was i remember it as well, we got knocked out of the champions league by Bayern Munich the night before and a fans were on a low but were positive after we signed him, he plays football with a smile on his face i like that attitude, that's what i want ot see in a United player, he would go down as the manager's greatest signings because we didn't know who he was and it came out from nowhere, and we all knew what he was about after watching the world cup in South Africa he scored some good goals in the tournament as well. I'm glad we've got him becuase if he was playing for one of our rivals i would be a bit jealous, He's a role model to youngsters coming through the academy. He's an idol in Mexico they go crazy for him when he goes back there for international duty. What was your reaction when we signed him ?
I was a little underwhelmed as I'd never heard of him but I love to be proved wrong on these things Do they go mad for him back in Mexico now he plays for United ? PS : I'm not sure about one of SAF greatest ever signings but he's certainly a good one.
When the club first signed him, Majority of United fans did not know who he was but he has been a good signing for Fergie. I would disagree about Hernandez being one of Fergie's best ever signings but he is a good signing for the club.
I think it was his goal vs France in the World Cup that made most fans sit up and think, blimey, he's a bit of an iceman in front of goal. And the goal vs Argentina just increased the hype and potential of the lad.
Forking hell mate, please tell me that as a United fan does Choccy does ring a bell with you? that is without using google or wiki for the answer (fans after 1993)
Mexico coach Luis Fernando Tena has admitted Javier Hernandez is under consideration for a place in the squad for the Olympic football tournament. The United striker is an option for one of the over-aged spots in the Under-23 party. "We always think about Chicharito for the quality he has, for what he represents and because he plays in England. There is no guarantee on anything yet but it's inevitable to think about it," he told Univision. Manchester United homepage
Considering that i was only born 4 years after he signed for the club, you can excuse me for not being familiar with the name
They do go mad for him Mexico, and in the coverage here in the States he's the number 2 star on the United team because of the large Mexican/Hispanic population.
I'm not his biggest fan...he's a good player and an incredibly instinctive goalscorer but his link play is poor and he's bullied off the ball too easily. I just feel that he doesn't have the quality against top class opposition or that he can adapt to a system that doesn't 100% suit him. He's no OGS.
