Sunderland to try again for Man City winger Johnson Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Mon, 04/02/2012 - 12:17 Sunderland are interested in Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. former Black Cats boss Steve Bruce tried to sign Sunderland fan Johnson from Middlesbrough two years ago and thought he had a deal agreed until the England winger opted to take a massive pay hike at City. But the 24-year-old â who came on as a half-time sub against Sunderland yesterday â could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium in the summer. this rumor is starting to gather pace, so i hope there is some truth in it, if he is playing every week for us he will get better, i do recon he will be out the door at City but i hope its us that lands him.
Sure hope so Rog. Been talked about on ESPN a bit & to be honest thay don't piss into the wind often.
I would like to think that MON can make the difference and tempt him, my concerns are the fee and more of a concern his wages, we wont pay what he is on so will he take a drop? Would love to see it but even optimistic me cant.
Question on money. If you are a footballer who wants to play at the top level (Permiership) do you a) Sit on the bench and get £5M a year b) Play most weeks and get £3m a year That is the question. Once you get to £1m a year you are made for life so a true footballer should want to play. If he says a) then I dont want him if he says B0 then he is my sort of player. To be fair they should all say yes to £250,000 a year!
We are going to have a cracking squad next season, top 4 at least, if you look at all the players we are after, mind I have a feeling its like this most years.
This is starting to get up there with Nzog, got that sick of hearing the rumours, never wanted him anymore (just as well mind with nzog) Bruce wanted him, Bruce didnt get him, why would MON want him? If he comes, great, if not, MON was never in for him anyway probably. (unless we hear concrete evidence that he was).
I would love to see Johnson up at Newcastle but just know Ashley wouldnt sign that kind of money off. Always liked him as a player and never know why Liverpool didnt try harder for him instead of Downing who has no end product where as Johnson has bags of it. Would be a great signing even if you just manage to get him on loan.
matt phillips from blackpool would be a good alternative, very good player and o'neill's not affraid to dip into the championship as proved when he signed ashley young, stewart downing and fabien delph, i reckon phillips would jump at the chance and he's also got an eye for goal
I'd do a swap of Ba for Johnson, if we're gonna play 4-3-3 unfortunately Ba doesn't fit in, so I won't mind him leaving if we get a quality replacement.
Hypothetical (and i still rate Ba in our front three, does A LOT of work to help Cisse score) but would you swap Ba for Sess?
I'd straight swap Ba for Sess, I know it would never happen but would you do it? Could be a good deal for both clubs.
