As long as Mclaren can deliver a car only half a second slower than Red Bull or Ferrari we can be sure that Lewis will be a strong challenger for the title again.

Lewis can obviously pull back half a second on Alonso, but Seb maybe only 3 tenths. I think Alonso will retire at the end of this year, he looks like a broken, beaten, fat Spanish waiter who has forgotten where his paella is. And then starts berating the chef because he can't get past.

Yes, he probably will slink off into retirement, after the mother of all bustups with Ferrari and the tifosi

yes Lewis was ace - but he'll have to watch his front wheel lock-ups - else his tyres will be his undoing.

nice work. good to see the red bull are not completely dominant this year. though they still seem to have a qualifying secret

I heard on the commentary that this is an inherent feature of the Mclaren car. Its set up really hard to maximise the aero, but lockups are a side effect. However, it might not matter too much, because the tyre wear rate is high anyway, he'll be changing sets before flat spotting them becomes a big issue.

It's been like that for years now (remember 2009 when the front end was so stiff the car was going round bends on three wheels), I don't know why they still opt for such a stiff setup compared to everyone else, they get a slightly sharper response but they get stung badly by bumps in the track surface.

Excellelent drive by Vettel, but then virtually anyone could have brought that car home, except Webber for some reason, what was he doing !

Drivers of the day for me were Petrov and Hamilton, Button should have immediately given the Ferrari's the place back, silly move there Jenson.

And, the McLarens don't seem to significantly wear tyres quicker than any other team, Schumacher showed his true worth again.

Petrov and Perez for me. Vettel and Hamilton just had to get the cars home, something their teammates failed to do.

McLaren seemed to have the lowest tyre wear out of the 'big 3'

Yeah, Button's first stint (20 laps) was particularly impressive, Hamilton went slightly further on his first stint as well.

Perez pitted on 23. He did 35 laps on his second stint and set the fastest lap midway through (lap 39), so he wasn't exactly hanging around on them. I still don't know how he managed it, incredible display.

Could be that input from button combined with the amazing adaptability of lewis and ofcourse buttons smooth style have gelled

Should pay massive dividends in several races this year

Ferrari seem to have gone the opposite way, Alonsos input seems to have turned the gentle 2010 car into a tyre shredder

I think Hamilton had shut up all his critics that he is too aggressive on his tyres, big improvement on that side. And also a very well done to Mclaren for that turn around. Red Bull have been vastly superior in qualifying over the last year, so their race pace won't be that quick and consistent. Hamilton managed to keep the gap constantly under ten seconds until the floor issue, which meant he had to coast to be on the safe side. If he had a better start he probably would have held Vettel for quite a while and forced him into a mistake.

At least we know he Red Bull isn't invincible. If it gets any better, the FIA may have to 'silence' Adrian Newey...........

This minor point of news doesn't deserve a new thread, but has anyone seen that Hamilton will be voicing himself in the sequel to Cars? (Originally, its called Cars 2). The BBC have an article about it here.

Yeah I heard about tat, it maybe the only kids film I'd see, apart from Toy Story, which I was forced to watch. This could prove to have a second career for Lewis when he gets to retirement age!!
