The u18s got their first win of 2012 since november 19th of last year today after beating Newcastle 2-1 at the trafford training centre, it was an entertaining game, it ebbed and flowed, it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game when Dan Taylor hit the bar from a header, it was the home team that took the lead after good work from Gyliano Van Velzen on the left skipped past 3 defenders layed it to Ben Rothwell to slide in, but the visitors equalised when Dan Taylor scored from a free kick that was flicked on. But the u18s went ahead just before the break again good work on the left from Gyliano van Velzen who layed it to Jack Rudge to slide it in, and that's how it ended, Byrne won a penalty in added time which Rothwell had saved. United under pressure at times in the second half but considering some of the losses and draws in the run of games without a win I think we deserve the win. Impressed with Ioannou and McCullough at the back. Thought Blackett was impressive and Van Velzen had one of his better games in a while. Good team performance all round really.
Hello United fans i created this thread to update you how our youngsters are getting on at other football league clubs and other european clubs Oliver Norwood - Coventry Scott Wootton - Nottingham Forest Robert Brady - Hull Josh King - Hull Tomasz Kuszczak - Watford Reece Brown - Oldham Sean McGinty - Morecambe Bebe - Besiktas
Bebe made his comeback for Besiktas last weekend and Oliver Norwood is doing well the Coventry fans love him.
I've seen Norwood on the scoresheet a few times for Coventry so think he's doing well. I think Tommy K has been doing quite well at Watford, saw the highlights of their last game and he made a number of important saves, but is he going to get past Lindegaard for the number 2 spot, I doubt it. And Brady looks a prospect at Hull, not sure the impact that King has made however.
Matth I've merged the two threads considering the players on loan are our reserves and youth players.
Top 100 talents in the world 2012 Number 99 on that list is our very own Mats Møller Dæhli. They describe him in the following way: Quote: Hailed as one of Norway’s most naturally gifted players for a decade he has been described as a mix between Lionel Messi and Xavi due to his style. Already capped at Under-17 level by Norway, there are great expectations on the young Norwegian. Signing for Manchester United in 2011 he rejected the advances from Ajax and Bayern Munich and what was even more surprising about the move to Old Trafford is that the talented teenager had only months before signed for Premier League side Stabaek from FC Lyn. With excellent movement, vision and range of passing, Daehli signed his first professional deal in March after turning 17. The Oslo born teenager enjoyed an impressive Milk Cup campaign and is part of the academy side hoping to retain the club’s FA Youth Cup. He has already featured at reserve level for the Red Devils when he came on as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom.
